Oh don't worry, watching this season has been incredibly stressful. Sometimes you get competent contenders, sometimes you get pissed-off little leaguers. I was there for two of their losses to the Indians and it was almost embarrassing.

We're having another meetup this Sunday (May 28) at noon at Links Taproom in Wicker Park. We've currently got myself, Poque, Popete, Explosionface, and Joey Freshwater attending, with Pancakes tentatively attending. If you want to join us, either PM me for my cell number or just show up at Links at noon on Sunday and you'll be able to identify Poque by his giant sparkling World Series ring. :swoon:

the Players Tribune is so loving good at producing content I want to read. What would Gary Sheffield do if he were commissioner for a day?

first step,

quote:

If the pitcher is bold enough to throw at you, he should have to deal with the repercussions in terms of what the hitter may do to him. You want to throw at me? O.K. man, here I come. You’re trying to hurt me, well now you’re going to have to deal with me trying to hurt you. And the punishments should not be disproportionate. If you throw at me, and I charge the mound and knock you out, you should get at least as much of a penalty as I do. If I get suspended for three games automatically, the pitcher should automatically have to miss two starts. He can throw an inning of relief during that time to allow his arm to stay sharp, but that’s it. You lose two starts.

I changed my avatar to Slade Heathcott, and he got injured, missed the rest of the season, and was released.

I changed it to Ben Gamel and then he gets traded to Seattle.

I'm worried about what would happen if I change it to Judge.

(I was actually thinking of going to something Tanaka based, which would only guarantee he becomes brilliant again, opts out, and signs with the Red Sox.)

first step,

Between everybody sliding into/colliding with everybody to make sure they don't appear "soft", batters bashing pitchers over the head with bats, instant full season PED suspensions for the first offense, and forcing your best players to take multiple AB's in a marathon every time the game goes into extras, I'm not sure how many players will actually be left to play by the end of a season of Sheffield's MLB Hellscape.

Also I like how if you're a 2B and your leg gets broken by a take out slide, it's your fault and you're a selfish player for getting injured and hurting your team
