Yeah, though that's kind of happened already with the specialist games. I do think I prefer skirmish games more in general, so may just pick up SW and call it a day. Will have to see what the Kill Team equivalent for 8th is.

Kill Team was half-assed as hell and SW:A is still missing lots of things from Necromunda, as cool as it is, so I wouldn't hold your breath on them releasing a Kill Team for 8th that is any better than SW:A.

Ideally they just add supplements to SW:A to support more troop types and weapons. But even that's unlikely. They'll probably just focus entirely on 8th.

Talking of Epic, I dug out my masses of very old Space Marine minis and have a plan to paint two legions for Horus Heresy battles. Anyone know of any good proxies for 30k tanks and the like. I found Vanguard Minis who seem to have some stuff that works.

Crossposting from the 40k thread. Can I get some feedback on these two lists please.

GSC Gaping Maw Deep Delving Corp. — Genestealer Cults — 1000 points
Neophyte Leader — Bolt pistol (25), Chainsword (25)
Neophyte Heavy — Heavy stubber (120)
Neophyte Heavy — Flamer (40)
Neophyte Hybrid — Shotgun (20)
Neophyte Hybrid — Autogun (20)
Neophyte Hybrid — Autogun (20)
Neophyte Hybrid — Autogun (20)
Neophyte Initiate — Autopistol (15), Combat blade (knife) (5)
Neophyte Initiate — Autopistol (15), Combat blade (knife) (5)
Neophyte Initiate — Autopistol (15), Combat blade (knife) (5)

Or

Genestealer Cults — 1000 points
Neophyte Leader — Bolt pistol (25), Chainsword (25)
Neophyte Heavy — Heavy stubber (120)
Neophyte Heavy — Grenade launcher (frag) (85)
Neophyte Heavy — Flamer (40)
Neophyte Hybrid — Shotgun (20)
Neophyte Hybrid — Autogun (20)
Neophyte Hybrid — Autogun (20)
Neophyte Initiate — Autopistol (15), Combat blade (knife) (5)
Neophyte Initiate — Autopistol (15)

I like that the second one has a grenade launcher, but I feel like dropping down to nine men and losing the third arm attack from that last Initiate is a bit too steep of a price.

From a bottle test threshold point of view 9 and 10 are the same - you'll be testing once you lose three models for each as 1/4 isn't a round number. I doubt the additional body on the table will make a great deal of difference as your heavy stubber and grenadier will be the main heavy lifters early on.

I am also waiting for this. I do feel it might just end up being mostly the same. 8 bigly marines with some options on the sergeant is 200 points.

Having read Aos skirmish though I think buying individual models might be a great idea. Particularly if specialists go away.

Of course you might just get a situation where small points games of 8th replace Kill Team if it is played quickly enough.

Also you can just get that extra body after the first game. Getting heavies and their guns later on is a pain in the rear end.

I think Heartlands is more thought out than AoS Skirmish. None of them are Mordheim - hard to do that when units don't have upgrade options, only sidegrades - but Heartlands let you reraise your dead skellies and nerfs heroes.

I'm almost done painting my Shadow War: Armageddon team. :)

I've got six Veterans with Lasguns (the Vox Caster is just for show), a Sergeant with Laspistol & Chainsword and two Special Weapons dudes; one with a Heavy Flamer and the other with a Grenade Launcher.

I've also ordered this from Forgeworld:

So I might sub in a couple of Shotgunners for close encounters. ;)

I'm not fan of shotguns in space marine scout teams because a bolt pistol is 5 points more and just simply better.

For guardsmen? gently caress yeah. :black101: I've got two in my Catachan squad. If I were doing Cadian I'd totally go for that same kit.

Shotguns shine in Necro because of ignores cover so you can pin people who are well dug in. The fact that it's usually a 4+ to Wound as well is nice.

In Shadow War more enemies are T4 to begin with and more models are BS4 or have access to fancy gunsights etc. so Shotties are somewhat deprecated compared to what else is out there.

Those Guardsmen look great. would you mind sharing how you did the fatigues, armour and their bases? The FW shotgun kit is really good, I'm intending to use it when I do a Guard team. I'm also going to chuck in bits of the plastic Cadian HQ and the FW rebreather kit. There's a very nice demo charge arm in there.

Shotguns look really cool, and they seem like they are vital if you're going up against Harlequins. At least early on. For those reasons I have a couple in my Scout team.

If your general options are Autoguns, Lasguns, and the pistol versions thereof, Shotguns are a good choice as you get a degree of S4 shooting as well as the ignores cover shenanigans for Scatter. But if you have access to Boltguns or Bolt Pistols you probably have access to Red Dot sights and Photo Visors and you could build a beastly tacticool guy instead of your despie Underhive lowlife that can only hope to use a shotgun.

We're having a one day Shadow War campaign/tournament. Won one and lost one so far. My CSM dudes are maxing out upgrades since I haven't brought any more models to recruit.

Might have to give specialist a heavy weapon, even if it's not WYSIWYG.

Thats the blitzer. I expect the linemen will have half mask / no mask.

I was at warhammerfest today. I asked about MTO - apparently they think Halflings are indeed on the next wave (they aren't the same branch but they do have some influence on whats being chosen). The two criteria are the molds have to have survived (which might be why the chaos dwarfs are missing a hobgoblin sculpt) and that the teams can't be competing with new product thats out / coming out in the next 6 months. So I was pretty much dead on with my thoughts on how they decide these things.

Bloodbowl has sold so well that they intend to release all the teams in plastic now (each team with dice, cards and a pitch). They've hired two more people for plastic production and once the elves are out they're aiming for a new plastic team every 4 months, but the elves might be a while. Death Zone season 3 is planned to be wizards, undead and chaos along with star players and other things.

They're thinking about doing resin conversion kits (similar to the orcland raiders / bright crusaders) for mutations.

I think thats all.

EDIT: They sold out of all the Goblin secret weapons before I got there, but I managed to pick up the ogre and halfling set.

I paint my Guardsmen in pretty much the GW standard way by painting the skin, fatigues and armour in Bugman's Glow, Zandri Dust and Castellan Green respectively, then washing the whole model with Agrax Earthshade.

Then I touch up the fatigues and armour with the same colours before highlighting the skin with Cadian Fleshtone, the fatigues with Ushabti Bone and the armour with Loren Forest.

Then I do some more extreme highlights on the armour with Straken Green and on the skin with Kislev Flesh.

The bases are Stirland Mud, washed with Agrax Earthshade and drybrushed with Tyrant Skull. Then I glue on some Scorched Grass and paint the rims black.

In the specialist games seminar they did a hands up who would like bit where they gauged interest in the various old games returning. Necromunda got the most hands, Mordheim just behind. Gorkamorka and BFG got less than mordheim but still a sizeable number.

What this means is anyones guess but I imagine we'll see necromunda and mordheim before anything else and probably Gorkamorka before BFG because it doesn't require many / any new models really.

It would really only take one or two sprues of extra stuff. Some cyborg arms, legs, various weapons, etc. They're still using some of the vehicle kits and they have the molds for the weapon upgrades so it wouldn't take a lot of effort really.

I have no doubt that they'd gently caress up Mordheim, even if by doing nothing major. The rules are super dated and I doubt they'd use one of the fan made alternating activation sets and they'd also probably try to stick it into a Mortal Realm of Age of Sigmar.
