One thing that didn't get mentioned is that Life Will Change overrides all the music except special story cues on the heist day. It keeps playing through random battles, victory screens, safe rooms, everything. It doesn't start and stop either with screen transitions, it just keeps going. This really helps to set the mood in a good way - you're there to steal the treasure and nothing is going to get in your way.

Ehhh, I think I'm more a fan of the version with lyrics. We've actually already heard it in the LP, for the little prologue section where Joker gets busted in the casino, but I think I like the vocal version more because the song itself is like played 3 notes lower than the instrumental version, and I think the lower pitch sounds a lot more dramatic. Also, the bass riff in the bridge between verse and chorus in the vocal version sounds a lot more pronounced and it's really, really good.

Alright, so, this boss. He's a nightmare on Pure Merciless (differentiated from normal Merciless only by meaning that you went through the entire dungeon on that difficulty, rather than just setting it to Merciless for that one boss), mostly because you're almost guaranteed to have lower levels, and lesser Personas as a result. In fact, I had to grind up to level 8 and try a few different fusions to get something that let me win, passing Tarunda up through to the Level 8 Fool Persona, because it had Resist Physical. Phase 1 is usually not a problem on this boss - just wail on the trophy and heal as needed. Phase 2, though? He gets a lot more dangerous. Gold Medal Spike, as shown here, is a OHKO to anyone not guarding, and sometimes even kills people through guarding if they had less than half HP. Golden Knife HURTS. Lustful Slurp makes everything here dangerous, because if he gets a turn without Tarunda up, it's pretty much a loss. And the kicker? If you fail to deal 100-150 damage a turn for two or three turns, he'll notice that someone is missing early, and cancel the sending, making all the time that last party member was gone wasted. Level 8 might be high (since all I needed to burn through was two Revival Beads), but it's still a hectic fight.

Yeah on Hard/Merciless it's really recommended to get everyone's levels up; level 11 is really ideal, as it unlocks a whole bunch of useful skills. Ann gets Tarunda, Ryuji gets Headbutt, and Morgana gets Media. Fusing Obaryion is really nice for this fight, as he resists physical. Slime's another option if you're at level 10.

The earliest persona you can fuse up that gets a skill dealing Gun damage, as well as the aforementioned Phys resist. Also I THINK Gun skills, while having around the same HP percentile cost, do just a smidgen more damage on average. But I'm not 100% sure.

Life Will Change and Blooming Villain are amazing songs. Persona 5 has a great OST and. Give it a listen. Weirdly enough it's also for sale on iTunes, which surprised me.

For if Ann tries to go She starts to head over but is immediately stopped as he screams "Where the Hell do you think you are going!?" Or something along those lines. The follow up line from Morgana I think makes it really obvious that he is always keeping an eye on her and she won't be able to sneak around.

If the Palace rulers are going to be modeled after the seven deadly sins, then that shot from the opening seems pretty significant: Is Morgana going to sort-of pull a Teddie and turn out to be someone's Sin? Maybe he went all crazy at the sight of Kamoshida's Treasure because he's Greed or Envy or something. This is the first time I notice this because I always watched the video until now, but there's two more words besides the seven traditional sins: "Cavum" and "Irritum". Seems like they both translate to hollow/empty/void. Maybe we could have a Persona 4 thing going on with the Pride boss being Kuni-no-Sagiri (because of course Pride is going to be the last deadly Sin to be fought) and the two new ones being Ame-no-sagiri and Izanami. I'm more curious about how they're going to make the Sloth arc work, though.

Cavum does mean emptiness/hollowness but I think that's more in an "idle/despair" sense. Despair was an original 8th sin but accordingvto wikipedia that one is called "tristitia" instead so who knows what they meant.

In this context, Irritum is Vanity and Cavum is supposed to be Apathy, apparently.

Right off the top of the bat, we can already tell the game's going to be taking some liberties with the sins, based on that list since we've already met Belphegor.

Speaking of stuff from the early game: In the intro sequence, Joker was moving around what looked like (and was treated like?) a normal-rear end casino. But there were shadows in it, and he was captured by the police in his supposedly palace-manifested costume. Does this mean that the lines between real world and metaverse are going to blur at some point?

There is an interesting discussion to be had about this but we'd be heading straight into spoiler territory before the game has fully opened up yet. But as the "slaves" and the bikini Ann in Kamoshida's palace show, cognitive versions of regular-rear end humans can just appear in palaces and interact with persona users. Additionally, police brutality/The Man/Men in Black are ingrained enough in the human psyche to be represented as a legion of faceless mooks. In persona 4 there were Hulk Hogan shadows that fought you (lol) as well as weirdly stylized tanks and stuff, although those weren't personas you could summon.

Yeah, there we go; I really, really like Kamishida's Shadow, it really is a triumph in both design and implication. The characters can talk about going about things stealthily all they like, but this is a Swashbuckling Adventure (tm)- it's all very well to go on about plans routes and calling cards, but you know that the bad guy is hidden behind the curtain with his men, and it will come to a rapier fight on the parapet or some such. You don't hammer through what an awful shithead Kamoshida is and then not find a new meaning to the ter, "beating the devil out of him". One little understated thing I loved about the calling card scene was how Ann doesn't even look at Kamoshida, just keeps her head bowed the whole time.
