never gamble on the outcome you desire. if you win, you'd be happy anyway, if you lose you'll need the money.

Man, it's quite something to see Corbyn engaging in actual showmanship. Building suspense, delivering surprise twists, keeping a steady stream of content rolling out to keep the audience satisfied - I'm sure this was a key part of his other campaigns, but it still seems surprising to see him using it so cleverly and openly.

my fiance and I once spent an evening playing sky bingo online when they did one of those free cash giveaways where you have to play a certain % of money over the cash they gave you in order to withdraw, but we kept playing with the winnings we were making to meet that allocation and withdraw the money. Got £60 and £80 respectively.

Would have gotten even and £20 if we had played with our own money, iirc, and that was a particularly lucky evening I reckon. Gambling is a fools game

If May doesn't turn up then it's Corbyn vs Farron and Nuttall. Now I don't know about you but I'm perfectly down for watching Corbyn completely clown on those fuckers.

I'm a it worried about this. When they had the debate last week (?) with everyone but May and Corbyn, initially I thought Corbyn should have participated without her, as it would. E a chance to get his points across and mock her for not showing up.

After seeing a bit of it, I thought he was probably right not to show: they looked like a bunch of no-hopers and also-rans. This might be different since Rudd is there, but I'm worried his image might be a bit sullied. The reason challengers like (and often do well) in debates is because they get to stand side-by-side with the leader, so the audience thinks "oh, this isn't just some person: they could be the leader". For Corbyn to go up against people who aren't May could potentially make him look like a red rosette Tim Farron. But he isn't bad at this sort of thing, so hopefully he'll prove me wrong.

Actually getting support from the party machinery will tend to do that.

a) use betfair or another betting exchange
b) and if this is your first time, may as well pick somewhere handing out free bets
c) and as someone else said, whenever you have an emotional investment in the outcome you should always take the other side from what you hope will happen.

Upon further inspection I had picked the Tories for housing. I actually misread the bulletpoint about right to buy thinking it was about giving private renters right to buy. Of course the Tories would make nice sounding things into terrible policies in practice no doubt.

No surprises for me that I picked LD for Europe/Immigration/Democracy and Green for stuff where they go further than Labour can dare to at the moment (on defence/4 day workweek etc).

I suspect a few people will tune in having not followed all the pre-debate drama and will have no idea who Amber Rudd is or why Theresa May isn't there. May had better figure out something really important to do as an excuse for not going; everybody's going to be asking Rudd why the PM had to get a lackey in to talk about how strong and stable she is.

Edit: May is already overflowing with excuses, apparently:

quote:

  1. Because she debates him anyway at PMQs
  2. Because she’s more interested in meeting members of the public
  3. Because debates are a bit pointless
  4. Because she is too busy preparing for Brexit

Green's worst policy on that is their environmental one. I wish they weren't so nutty about nuclear. It's pretty clean compared to fossil fuel energy. It's not like Britain is in Tsunami Valley ala Fukushima either. Anti-nuclear energy and pro-clean energy are almost, but not exactly, at odds with each other.

I really don't get this - is she saying that she is negotiating Brexit this evening?

If the negotiations take up so much of her time, how does she have time to tour some lovely British businesses to speak in front of 30-70 people at a time?

They must be really scared for her to have a bad performance to take this course of action.

I've never been clear on why it's supposed to matter at all. The MPs aren't going to be doing Brexit negotiations and no matter how terrible the deal or how slim the majority Parliament will vote to approve it because a 'no deal' alternative is too horrific to contemplate.

A strong conservative supporter that I know has just posted on Facebook that he can't vote Tory after seeing Theresa May on the debate the other night and his right wing friends are agreeing in the comments.

I've known him for years and never seen him talk like that before. Low turnout of Tory voters on election day, maybe?
