Checking back with an update on Unit Data. The final encounters in Ending C/D/E do count towards your percentage. My final 1% was the updated entry for A2.

That's a 100% on the entire game for me.

I may have cried during the ending. A little.

Yes, and there are a ton of weapons, special abilities, and chips (passive skills) for you to collect and swap around.

Are the messages that roll by when you lose in ending E randomly chosen? And are they moderated? I was surprised that the tone was so serious, that the messages were very similar and that no one was talking about wanting to gently caress 2B or dicks or anything. I would sacrifice my user data if I could put in a comment about dying and erections as a tribute to our game's creator but not if some nerd is sitting somewhere in Japan and only choosing the motivational ones. I guess I could make it a motivational comment about death and erections.

At the very end, after the cut-scene, you're asked if you would like to leave a message for other players that are struggling through that sequence. Similar to your death message, there are a bunch of pre-typed selections to choose from. That's where they come from and why most of them are encouraging.

1.5 million copies. Glad to see this game achieving some measure of the success it deserves. Just wish it had a better release window, what with it being sandwiched between Horizon: Zero Dawn, Zelda, and Mass Effect: Andromeda.
A bit late to this point, but I personally don't think the release window hurt the game. By all reasonable expectations it SHOULD have, but I think that the Nier releasing in an absolutely packed month and still drawing overwhelming praise from fans and critics has led a lot of people to take more notice than they naturally would have. When people mention you as their GotY in a year where Breath of the Wild came out, people take notice. You can see this in how much the game is selling over time - people keep coming back to it.

there are so many delightfully horrible and mean options, and not one person I saw in my run or that I've ever seen mentioned anywhere has picked them. Semper games.

Thankfully I hoarded materials in Routes A and B so all these sidequests in C are a joke. Receive quest for items, already have items, boom.

I still can't get Emil to offer weapons. He did the first time I stopped him in A, but never on B and not so far on C.

You have to move him around by repeatedly visiting him and then leaving the area.

I have. I stopped him near the desert camp, in the crater, near the resistance camp, and on the opposite side of the wrecked goliath. The first time at the desert camp he sold weapons, but I have stopped him there again and he was just selling chips.

Try resistance camp repeatedly. It's like a 50/50 chance between chips and weapons

I tried Emil so many times and only got offered chips.

Speaking of chips, I wish there was some way to expand the amount of chips you can use. Once you get to +6 it is really hard to fit them in and it would be fun to break the game by using several of them at the same time but there were too many things that were essential to me so all I could ever fit was a couple of them at a time.

Do you mean after all the upgrades there already are to have more chips? You can expand that amount by a lot.

Are you buying really huge chips and fusing them up? +0s can go as small as 6 but you buy them at +10.

Yeah, after all of the upgrades. How do you expand it after that? I beat all the endings so it would only be useful if I end up doing the dlc I guess I but I am still curious.

You can create pseudo-diamond chips by fusing up by one. So if your diamond chip takes up 4 slots and you don't have another diamond chip, fuse it with one that takes up 5 and the resulting chip will take the same space as a diamond without actually being diamond-quality.

Ex: <>Critical (4) + Critical (5) = Critical+1 (5)

The diamond is just an indicator that the chip is at its minimum cost. The result of the fusion above is a diamond chip, nothing "pseudo" about it.

There's a handful that spawn around the rivers in the forest and you can go in the sewer drain that leads to the amusement part as well. I usually bounced around those three spots until I had enough and it didn't take me too long.

It's a fishable from the Flooded City zone. You can get it at any time the Flooded City is accessible, which includes all of Route C.

Plus I think fusing a diamond with a low but non-diamond to get a diamond of the next level up only works at some levels.

If I am woefully inexperienced with fighting games and console controllers*, should I turn on 'Auto Mode' or would that teach me bad habits and be counterproductive?

The game is designed to be very accessible so just go with what feels the most comfortable. It's from the least demanding end of this type of game
