Someone with ~BDS PRYDE~ as their handle quickly go after him. Can anyone explain to me how BDS is even remotely 'racist', as pro-Israeli people call it? At its face, BDS seems like putting economic pressure on evil corporations and groups who're exploiting Palestinians, expanding Israeli territory illegally, or illegally utilizing Palestinian land. Am I just not seeing this through the proper lens that sees everything beyond the most toothless and mild criticisms of Israel as being literally the Holocaust all over again? I liked most of RL's interview, especially his points at the end about pushing yourself out of your social comfort zones. However, can someone explain to me what point he was trying to make when he was discussing how most of the anti discrimination laws are race based and this demonstrates the limitation of the neoliberal technocratic state's power? He seemed to be saying accept it, move on, and work on the local level instead, which seems to contradict his main argument and also ignores that fighting for newer and expanded discrimination laws is also something worth fighting for.

I think he was trying to say that 1) those racial discrimination laws have a lot of limitations and can only do so much and 2) if that's your main means of fighting inequality and oppression you're going to have to re-fight the same battles to pass the same laws for each different group. Still worth doing but it can't represent the limits of your political imagination, as it does for a lot of liberals. At least that's how I took it.

He's saying that essentially most of the legal battles possible against racism have already been won, and that to push forward you would need organization that transforms the framework upon which the legal system rests.
