Places like Austin, Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, Atlanta, Indianapolis, New Orleans, Birmingham, Tucson, Little Rock, and Charleston.

all of these places already vote democratic. there's no point to putting more liberals in liberal enclaves, you'd need them to move to rural areas to tip those districts which is even more wildly impractical than whatever nonsense you're pushing here

You can in some states. Where it sees resistance is your average red state because everyone would be able to easily vote instead of only certain colors and only in certain places. Republicans would probably lose a lot of their holdings they manage to cling on to if they couldn't "unknowingly" block minorities from voting

Entirely anecdotal, but I've long felt that as a Navy, we have a responsibility abroad as we represent a very real, consistent component of US foreign policy. I'm obviously biased against Trump, but one of the things that I get most fired up about is how we as a country are represented internationally by our government and within our international friendships. After the NATO, G7, and most recently Paris Accords brouhaha this past week I honestly feel betrayed and get that laughable and stereotypical feeling of "I wore the uniform, represented our country on the world stage, and this loving idiot has betrayed us" even while I have to support it publicly. I was thinking about that a lot last week and I'm not sure that makes a lot of sense, but poo poo, it makes me really angry and I wouldn't be surprised to learn that others feel the same way.

The military as an organization has over 150,000 uniformed individuals overseas at any given time, the VAST majority of which are in allied nations (Japan, Korea, Germany, UK, Italy, etc...). Then there is Russia... a country I am in vehement opposition too... We work closely with our allies and partners and form relationships - then he just walks in and shits all over it and we have to go 'Yup, that's our Commander in Chief'.

quote:

Dear Applicants,

Our office was scheduled to issue award notifications for our FY 2017 SBIR/STTR Phase I Release 2 Funding Opportunity on Monday, May 1, 2017. New DOE Administration officials requested that SBIR/STTR selections be held until Secretary Perry has an opportunity to be briefed on research projects that will take place under his administration. Award notifications will therefore be delayed until that review has taken place. At this time our office has not been provided with a timeframe for completion of that review. We will provide periodic updates as more information becomes available.

Sincerely,

Just because Rick Perry isn't being vocal about his dislike for his charge (like Pruitt) or saying things contra the mission of his charge (like Carson), doesn't mean he is doing a good or passable job.

I used to think the same thing about e-voting but I have no faith in the ability of local politicians to keep the thing secure. Foreign agents, crazy Americans and 4chan are going to be trying to get into those systems instantly and likely be successful in a lot of cases.

Right now real legitimate voter fraud is impossible to accomplish in material numbers. E-voting would get hosed with instantly either through some guy with a giant list of SSNs, birthdays and addresses or foreign cyber operations trying to directly adjust the results.

Maybe if it was done fully by the federal government and given the same security attention that things like the National Labs, Pentagon etc. get but the trade-off there is that the entire process would be centralized and under the control of the Repubs half the time, meaning their voter suppression could be deployed nationally rather than just in states where they control the local government.

There is no standardized methodology for voting in America, and the way ballots are implemented can vary wildly even within a state, but since 2000 the momentum of voting methodology has moved away from punchcards and lever machines and to either digital voting machines or to paper ballots filled out in ink and scanned electronically..
