the reason the House of Lords looks good is the same reason a bunch of American liberals have been effusive praising the intelligence community/James Comey. these people will stand up for the status quo since it benefits them. with global fascism on the rise and right wing parties taken over by death cultists this is a positive, since they stand in the way of catastrophe, but the status quo they stand for is appalling misery. when leftism is in ascendancy they will stand against that too, against the idea that things can ever be any better than they are now

The House of Lords exists to make sure tomorrow looks similar today but has no opinion on today being significantly more to the right than it was a few decades ago. If you feel that something in society needs radical change they're your opponent, whether that makes them good or bad depends on what you're trying to change.
