Kurr de la Cruz posted:Ordered the new vive headstrap direct from HTC. Will give a trip report when it arrives. Same, except ordered from Amazon last I knew HTC had horrible shipping prices/customer service. Looking forward to it, played 2.5 hours of soundboxing last night and having something solid to keep it from swiveling on my head would be awesome, also keeping earbuds in can be a challenge when jumping around. Note: When Norm of tested tried a super early version of Revolve he said it did swivel back and forth quite a bit, but seemed super positive on the Deluxe Audio Headstrap. I think he tried the Deluxe audio before Revolve however. Also as a side note, thanks for putting this up, I setup a notification to get notified from Amazon when the product was for sale and I still haven't gotten the reminder even after ordering it. EDIT: Out of stock at HTC.com, still in stock at Amazon, but that might just mean HTC didn't tell amazon how few they had. I'd order now, from Amazon but I won't be surprised if they can't deliver in the "Usually ships in 1-3 weeks" timeframe. Stick100 fucked around with this message at 20:00 on Jun 6, 2017 |

A hundred years from now, the sages in the postapocalyptic wasteland will tell the story of how Star Trek Bridge Crew seduced humanity into the clutches of virtual reality, dooming society to destruction. Fake edit: It's real good, play it.

This is exactly what I hoped Sony would do for VR. Their position as the gatekeepers for a huge install base means they can set a certain bar of quality and enforce it, which is obviously great for PSVR but also has follow-on benefits as that quality bleeds out into the entire ecosystem. Bringing some civilization to the VR wild west is hugely beneficial at this point as the tech is starting to go mainstream. acksplode fucked around with this message at 21:24 on Jun 6, 2017 |

Lmao just had the best moment in Star Trek, we were doing the criminal recovery mission and the freighter we had to warp the dude out of was surrounded by six pirates or something ridiculous. We spent about five minutes trying to figure out what the gently caress we were going to do when this happens https://clips.twitch.tv/SaltyVenomousLionNononoCat I was very, very relieved we didn't have to try something stupid, the pirates did that for us

VR keeps on amazing me. With Star Trek: Bridge Crew, I was planning on mostly playing it in solo mode, because I didn't really expect to be able to play much online and often try to avoid multiplayer. But I seriously can't imagine playing the game without it now. The social element actually makes the experience far more enjoyable than I expected, and there's a good reason for it: You're basically a group of nerds coming together to play pretend Star Trek. Everyone I've played with have also been so incredibly nice and just really playing it for the fun of it. But I also have to really give them kudos for the interface. The UI is really clean, and I was able to pick up how each station worked within only a few minutes of experimenting. After like 30 minutes, I felt comfortable enough in each station to do my job, and also really enjoying the gameplay of each(although I seriously dislike how the engineer is facing away from the rest of the bridge on the original Enterprise). While the game itself feels fairly easy, it's just the experience of being with three other guys that really drives it. And I'd say that even a bit of roleplaying comes into it. While I'm not saying that everyone I've been playing with are assuming a character and thinking up a background and such, everyone I've played with seem to be automatically picking up the vibe to shout stuff like "Shields at 12%", "Heading to 147", "Rerouting power to the shields" that really gets you into the game. Sure, there's goofing around between jumps, but everyone really seem to get into it once the game resumes. It's a really good demonstration on how awesome social VR is, and I somehow hadn't expected that when I first bought it.

I bought a Vive bridge crew bundle but the code it came with didn't mention anything about how to unlock bridge crew - just the two standard apps in their store. Is there someplace obvious I should be looking?

That's weird because even old stock unredeemed codes were supposed to be giving out Star Trek now so its not like they gave you an old one by mistake. You should probably complain to them

Wow he seems almost exited to be telling everyone about that. Looks like a bad batch from their foam supplier. Or his brother uses some oil based product (styling wax?) that is causing the reaction. I was going to suggest alcohol based styling gel but the alcohol evaporates pretty quickly. My vote is still some weird edge case where the guy has weird pH level sweat mixed with a hair product. Simply blaming the manufacturer seems like a knee jerk reaction.

If its really just exposed foam on the back that seems kinda bad regardless, shouldn't there be some kind of outer layer?

I've seen so many cheap heaphones people own have their foam deteriorate with age and wear, I'd honestly be shocked if they didn't somehow test for something like sweat in early stages. I certainly hope thats just a few isolated cases and not something widespread, after all those particular people as mentioned could have had product in their hair interacting, or even just naturally been on the extreme acidic side of the human sweat spectrum or something. Still, it would be really lovely for everyone waiting all this time to have a recall right away because someone goofed up somewhere on the padding to use.

The game is absolutely incredible. I love piloting the ship as Helm. As awesome as room scale is, the right sitting game can be mind blowing. I hope we see more cross platform VR games. I don't understand why people poo poo on Uplay because ultimately it's that platform that makes the magic of PSVR/Rift/Vive crossplay happen with Ubisoft games. Does anyone know if Werewolves Within still has an active playerbase? That looks like the next Ubisoft VR game that I want to grab since it also supports PSVR/Rift/Vive crossplay. iceaim fucked around with this message at 12:33 on Jun 8, 2017 |
