Would that lead to a lot of people being able to talk about what they did while they worked in the government after they quit? Are you referring to Comey? Because he didn't leak anything secret.

Mr Interweb posted:So I know nothing about how leaks work, but I'm very curious of the "private citizen" defense. Isn't that still, you know, leaking government secrets? If it's not classified it's not a government secret. It's like him "leaking" his personal emails. Comey was careful to draft his memos so that they contained no classified information. Hence, they're just his personal notes. No different from him "leaking" an email he sent to his wife to reschedule dinner.

No, because he's talking about his own thoughts. He admitted that one of the memos had confidential information on it, but that he typed that into a confidential laptop that he had, so it was secure. Everything else is just his thoughts and actions. Also, and this is a very dangerous and pretty stupid assumptions, not everything--not even most things--a government official does is a "secret".

There weren't.

It's sad, when a director has to speak the words that condemn his own president. But I couldn't allow them to believe that I would lie. They'll put him away now, as I should have years ago. He was always bad, and in the end he intended to steal the election for Russia... as if I could do anything but just sit and stare, like one of his stuffed safari trophies. They know I can't move a finger, and I won't. I'll just sit here and be quiet, just in case they do... suspect me. They're probably watching me. Well, let them. Let them see what kind of a person I am. I'm not even going to swat that fly. I hope they are watching... they'll see. They'll see and they'll know, and they'll say, "Why, he wouldn't even harm a fly..."

Probably 20 pages late but people were asking about UK polling? Wrote this to someone on FB that might be useful here. "In short: Brexit polling was different as it was a referendum and polling UK elections is much more challenging than US. The Brexit referendum was based on national totals as opposed to Parliamentary elections which are for each district, after which the government can be made. I'm not a poller but I have a feeling that those doing it for media orgs are pretty limited in resources and aren't able to flush out decent models to normalize for segments & get enough statistics/responses. So national polling with ~2K folks will not do a reliable job in sampling to understand how districts will go. Any real district-national coupling is probably too weak to be meaningful. So to be clear, it's like using US national polls to predict the presidential election. Except there's a lot more districts than states so your combined uncertainty will be much, much higher. " If there's a some UK goon who wants to tell me I'm wrong, I'd love to be corrected!
