Agents of Mayhem looks pretty cool from what I've seen of it, don't think I'm gonna buy it though.

I think Agents of Mayhem was just really poorly advertised because I watched 3 trailers of it and I still have no idea what kind of game it is, what the setting is about, or who the bad guys are.

From the previews I've read it's basically Crackdown only instead of super-powered cops you're a bunch of smirking GI Joes with 'tude who flip off the camera whilst unloading entire clips into unflinching robot enemies a la Borderlands.

I'm way into this. My favorite way of handling summons was FF12, where they used the Lucavi from FFT and final bosses from older games to make them seem like some poo poo you'd find listed in a demonological grimoire or something.

Making most of them optional bosses lurking in the depths of various dungeons owned

Odin showing up when you fight Seifer towards the end of FFVIII was a really great joke, both for the idea that through sheer dumb luck the randomized instant-win summon had appeared during a boss fight and the punchline of Seifer just destroying him.

This. This is why I think it looks cool. I have wanted another Crackdown for so long. It's just a shame it has to be done with the current-gen Saints Row style of humor.

Conservatives are still likely to end up the biggest party so it'll depend on what happens when/if we get a hung parliament.
The gains are still a huge victory for Labour though and a disaster for the Tories.

Imagine how well Labour would be doing if it hadn't spent the last 6 months yelling about how much Corbyn sucks for actually being leftist.

the funniest part of the anti-corbyn campaign was when his entire cabinet (do they call it a cabinet?) resigned all at once to try and get him to resign and then he didn't and they had no backup plan after purging themselves from power

I can't decide whether this is Volition realizing too late that they should have just made another Saints Row game or hoping that they can distract people from the lukewarm gameplay of Agents of Mayhem by dangling Gat in front of everyone like so many jangling car keys in front of an infant. Either way this just makes me sad and embarassed for their sake.

Goddamn Volition. Gat was cool in SR1 and 2 because they didn't try so hard and used him rarely but effectively. Then they killed him off camera in SR3 in one of the stupider moves in any video game plot, brought him back in SR4 while constantly going "OH GAT IS BACK, ISN'T HE SO COOL?!" and now I'm supposed to care that they brought him back again for their other "totally not Saints Row" game?

I would be so happy if they took a step back and re-examined the tone of their games.

Hey, the guy voicing Johnny Gat says it's his favorite role ever because he's an asian who doesn't fall into any of the tired stereotypes and is a badass without being a karateman, so if Volition wants to give him more work, I won't complain.

I guess that's the one thing I can't fault them for with going back to the Johnny Gat well for the third time, since Agents of Mayhem is actually set in Seoul and Daniel Dae Kim is of South Korean heritage.

You see when the Final Fantasy series went to voice acting in FFX if you look at the waveform of the Chocobos that power the ferries when you click on them versus previous games, there's a strong correlation between the sound based on blah blah blah

It's all contained in my 500 page report...

and also music from games i really liked as a kid. treasure hunter g was--i don't wanna say like "it changed my perspective on the world" or someshit like that but it helped me understand how much i value character interaction writing over world building. like who cares exactly what the history of [port town] is but the party members telling each other good night whenever you stay at an inn is priceless https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DXxBA6G4Omw

I want to believe that. I really, really want to.

It's just, I've been close enough to the Stephen Universe fandom and the Supernatural one (back in the day) to believe the blackmail so readily. Fans are really, really terrible to creators. :sigh:
