I had avoided oilfield people for long enough to forget, but, nope, there's just no loving salvaging this place.

Let's cancel the NDP AB government to help the victims of socialism, so instead of deficit spending, they can simply reign in spending and hand out more public sector pinkslips to boost the economy. While they are doing that, cancel all environmental regulation like capping abandoned wells and that sort of thing, only lefties care about the environment.

Also GDP is based on land area so obviously rurals are subsidizing the parasitic cities. What do cities even do? If you aren't digging a hole are you even doing anything useful?

A lot of right wing people's only political exposure is from centre to hard right (sort of like this thread is only left to centre) , so they honestly think calling someone a socialist or anti-god or anti-business is an insult that will make them get defensive, or it's some horrible secret you need to keep on the down-low or it would ruin your reputation. It's a bit like how some "progressives" will call anyone or anything they don't like FASCIST no matter how strained the label, they expect the person to get defensive, never own it because in their circles being an admitted socialist is unthinkable.

Not just elections. This came up in an analyst discussion a couple weeks ago at work, and I kept trying to steer them away from traditional maps. It's such a waste of space and effort to show people the entire map of Canada when the vast majority of the landmass can be completely ignored.

I refuse to believe people really hate bicycles and the people who use them that much. You have no idea. Try being a cyclist in Winnipeg. I've been sworn at, honked at. Almost hit on a weekly basis. Hell I just had my brand new bike totalled two weeks ago after the front wheel and fork got trashed when I bounced off the hood of a car because the driver didn't see me. And when there's a news article about the cops finally doing something about the habitual ignoring of a stop sign at a very busy intersection for cyclists the responses in the comments is all 'pee pee doo doo I saw a cyclist run a stop sign one time and that means they all deserve to die' In a city with three quarters of a million people. gently caress them though I made them cut me a cheque for literally every penny I spent on that bike including the can of frame saver. And I'm going to buy it back and fix it on the cheap when it comes up on the salvage auction.

Capitalists are parasites who don't work for their money or contribute to society yet have enormous political and economic power that they use to further enrich themselves at everyone else's expense. Just go full Confucianism. Merchants are the scum of the earth who produce nothing and just serve as parasitic middlemen who exist to leach money from all things productive.

Fried Watermelon posted:My cyclists friends frequently get into confrontations by road rage assholes, some of them turn violent as well. Since being hit my tolerance for bullshit from drivers has literally plummeted. I've confronted a few people for blowing lights and putting me and others at risk. Hell, the afternoon after I got hit I decided to jump right back on the horse and took one of my other bikes out and someone laid on their horn while going past me and my wife because I wasn't in the bike lane enough for her and when she pulled off on a side street and parked in front of me I gave her a dressing down where she of course used the 'roads are for cars you shouldn't even be allowed on them' line. And then after a few back and forths she literally got out of her car and grabbed me while yelling 'you god damned millennial'. And I kinda laughed and got back on my bike and left because the alternative was me going to jail for punching an old lady in the face. I need to stop arguing with drivers or one of them is going to run me over.

Yeah, I'm super anti-business, as in the capitalist business class, or the business model under capitalism. Production is good, productivity is good, I'm pro that, but gently caress "business" Also man, you guys are making me really appreciate living in downtown Victoria. Pedestrian is really king here (or at least cars actually stop at crosswalks and poo poo) and cycling stuff keeps getting better too.
