we'll need more since Soma is actually leading during weekends in case we wanna go at the same time.
Now it's not always easy to get a lot of people so he might be able to take a few of us along to fill up his raid in case he doesn't have the attendance.

But it seems like a few people are requesting early hours! EU and what not.
So i'd suggest doing it like 4-5 hours before reset time.
Maybe Sat-Sunday to accommodate with those early hours.
Nothing is set yet though. Let me know your preference in time/day (use reset time as a reference please since we are on all sorts of time zones)

I'll edit this along with new replies.

Fridays and Saturdays I'm working until around 6-7 PST, but any time after that usually works during the week. Sundays I'm free all day.

If you need fillers you can always ask in guild chat and I'm sure people will want to join. We'd also need voice chat. SFD has mumble so we could maybe use that.

I'm Scratch! I'm east coast. Just about any weeknight is fine, and weekends can work too. For weeeknights would prefer something after 7p due to work, but weekends are open any time after say early/mid-afternoon. I know it's supposed to just be a baby raid group but requisites are not that huge, no need for full ascended but the extra stats on them do help at some extent.
Also most importantly I believe that for better chances you'd like to optimize stats and build.
If you don't like to theorycraft yourself, give https://metabattle.com a look under your profession (class) and under the Raid tab normally if you use one of these specs you should be pretty optimal.
Then all we have to learn is boss mechanics. Would be a shame to be stuck on first boss cause half the raid does less than half the damage they could produce if they had looked at a build before hand!
Hehe I hate being that guy but at the same I have 10 years of experience playing with Goons. Been banging my head against a wall a lot.

World v. World questions:

I've been noodling around in WvW on my Necro the past few days, to see what all is supposed to be different. (Trip report: so far, not all that much). I've got a full set of Exotics on her, but it's mostly stuff cobbled together from whatever I had access to for cheap, so I think it's a mix of Carrion and Ravager's; would it be worth shelling out some of the WvW currency to get her a full set of something with more survivability? Is there a "best" stat combination for WvW / Necros in particular?

(also there are a lot of things to potentially buy w/ WvW rewards; what would folks recommend looking at / saving up for, as someone not terribly interested in investing a whole lot into WvW itself?)

My 2 cents

Don't raid.

It will turn you into a horrible, frustrated elitist jerk. You will hate your previous friends. You will hate yourself. You know who else is a raider? Travis Kalanick. Don't be that guy.

If you do raid, for whatever reason, don't worry so much about gear at the start. The most important thing you can do is watch a million YouTube videos and learn the mechanics. Also, start with w4, it's the most forgiving.

Dumb question here but are the crafting costs listed for legendaries or precursors on gw2efficiency those associated with the collection? Bought the quip vol 1 book but now reading some older posts saying to stay away from the system altogether as it would be cheaper to outright buy (for many, not just quip).

Edit: some additional browsing there and at BLTC seems to have answered my question. The quip precursor looks about 200g more to craft through the collection. Lordy!

Dear friends, I share with you my advice - from experience - not to stay up all night doing high level fractals. Especially when you then wake up at your normal waking-up time which is like three hours later, and you can't get back to sleep. For that way leads to madness. Specifically, some :nws: :nms: Finnish madness.

Some of the t1 collections can be pretty fun. I'm sure the t3 collections are great too but the t2 grind immediately asks you to stump up 35 deldrimor ingots - unless it's an aquatic precursor which needs about 5 - and it's just too much pointless grind imo

E: Hot music wise I loving love the Rata Novus ambient music

The whole thing should've been more like the T1 collection, it's fun, encourages you to get out into the world and do stuff, and has a lore component in it in regards of every weapon "type" and purpose of what you actually need to collect. It's great. But then it immediately takes a turn for a super grind with T2 which is not fun at all.

re: music discussion - I agree that HoT has a lot memorable tunes. I love the tune that plays around Noble ledges in Verdant Brink (Faren's Flier) but the best of all is Tarir, the forgotten city, that immediately jumps as a really good track

Race and some other minor character creation options decide your personal story and they all converge near the end of the vanilla game into dragon ankle punching regardless of your choices.

I personally don't mind it though.

Illuyankas
Oct 22, 2010

You do two story steps dealing with introducing your character's race and their priorities, each has three different paths at each stage based off char-gen choices

Third is deciding which order you join for the rest of the game, you do three missions where you pick between 2 orders at a time then make a decision

Then the order story where you do ordery stuff and hang out with your mentor, which varies from passable to my main man Tybalt who owns

Next you pick one of three subraces (which three are based off which race you are) and do some boring stuff with them for, like, three missions

Finally you go to an island and the storyline drives off a cliff and this is where the final free Black Lion key reward is so I don't remember what happens next
