If Sessions is seriously getting to duck an open hearing for a closed one, that's so hosed up.

Par for the course at this point. I mean those same senators are currently working in private to shove a godawful healthcare bill down America's throat before they can notice.

Sessions is hosed because at at this point he wants to testify about his nutso russian mob boss but then he'll have to explain why he waited so long to pipe up

I have a lot of points to make and I will make them later.
I know that I seriously prefer open testimony, but what hands are on the till here? The public doesn't get to vote Sessions out of office so he's not particularly beholden to them. Who gets to bring charges against the AG if he slips up and perjurs himself or more likely, admits to doing something woefully illegal?

Won't a closed hearing allow people to question Sessions regarding classified information that would not be allowed in an open hearing? Wouldn't that be important?

Apparently the AG can be impeached

There isn't a huge amount of trust in the people that would be questioning him and that anything but everyone laughing at america would happen unless they have to do it where someone can see what they are doing.

We'll have to think about how to find a mentality reset button for people like this that are probably pretty ignorant of things beyond surface depth.

Based on the bill that passed the House: If you live in a state that won't request a waiver for the Essential Health Benefits clauses, you're more-or-less fine on this specific count as long as your insurance doesn't lapse. And as long as the insurance market doesn't implode from all the fuckery.

If you live in, say, Alabama, but your insurance doesn't lapse for more than two months, insurers won't be able to reject you or charge you a higher premium than the general populace, but depending on exactly what Essential Health Benefits you need to access they might be able to make an end run around it anyway by eg charging a buttload more money for a plan that includes mental health benefits or maternity care.

And now Trump has access to all of the NSA/DIA/NRO/NGIA/etc programs which is equally problematic. I'm sure he'll be level headed and won't do anything wrong with the information gleaned from the data that the numerous information gathering programs the intel community use. Well, that's if the IC even gives him anything of substance after the way he's treated them.

Automation is vastly overhyped. There is so little evidence out there that suggests it kills jobs or worsens inequality. The biggest job disruptions is mainly due to trade.

I sell and implement automation software to SMBs. I've personally witnessed said software resulting in many layoffs. In one occasion, the automation project was so successful that the customer shuttered an entire department. Eighteen or twenty people were let go because their jobs were made redundant by a bunch of ones and zeroes.

The people laid off weren't doing mindless data entry either. They were business analysts responsible for reporting and forecasting. Once the executives realized they could get the information they need with the click of a few buttons in our software, as opposed to asking the employees for it and having to wait days/weeks for them to manually compile everything, they axed everyone on that team.

And that's just one company. I've been in this line of work for over a decade now and I've seen many such examples.

I can't speak for hardware automation (factories, construction, etc) but software really is eating the world. I'm lucky enough to be on the technical side doing development and implementation. Most people though are hosed.

Also, the flag that they might try to claim it is was created by some metal artist in the 90s, and co-opted by right nationalist movements because it involves Vikings and America.

So it's white nationalist (almost) all the way down. The last layer is just some nerd poo poo.
