I really hate how much interference you can run on forecheckers now, it's ugly to watch even if it theoretically saves d-men from getting lit up (another entertaining thing). That Penguins team was one of the weirdest Cup winners I've ever seen. Surely they set the record for most games outshot in a playoffs by a Cup winning team. And then riding two separate goalies playing out of their minds, crazy.

There used to be a guy who came by our local arena and would sell knock-off jerseys. He would buy big lots of them from China and then sell just the best quality ones in person. The rest he put on like on ebay or something. It cost $20-30 more than buying them yourself but you avoided the risk of a terrible one, and could see before you bought. Even with the hand picked best examples you can tell the difference compared to a real one.

The following things are true: - Nashville is a really neat city in which I've thoroughly enjoyed myself on multiple trips both business and personal - Nashville's fan base puts every other NHL team's fans to shame when it comes to fun and enthusiasm and Mike Milbury is a dipshit - Hattie B's hot chicken is world class - Mainstream country is embarrassingly bad but the best music being made in the world right now is coming out of Nashville - This finals and playoffs in general sucked despite the Nashville fans' best efforts - PK Subban is very good but every time I watch him I think he could be better than he is for some reason - Sidney Crosby is the least fun and entertaining superstar player in any sport, and ever in ice hockey - System hockey and oversized goalie equipment are the devil

I need Sweeney to give Pastrnak 6 mil a year for the next 5 or 6 years with a NTC and then I will feel good about being a Bruins fan for at least the entire next year.

https://twitter.com/ryanreal/status/874249296069234689 I've seen 14 teams make the SCF in my 11 full seasons of hockey watchin' since Lockout 2: Gary Boogaloo. Of those, I've seen 6 teams win, and have only seen one team not named Pittsburgh, Chicago, or Los Angeles win since 2008.

And from 95-03 it was Devils/Red Wings/Avalanche/Stars. And from 80-93 it was Oilers/Islanders/Canadiens/Penguins (well one Flames title but whatever). And from 68-80 it was Canadiens/Flyers/Bruins. that's hockey baby, yeah

The NHL had a good run of diversity starting with the Tampa cup. Tampa Carolina Anaheim Detroit Pittsburgh Chicago Boston LA And they'll probably see another good run upcoming. Chicago (probably) and LA are done, and it's only a matter of time before Crosby is dead.

If Letang is healthy the Pens have a good shot at a three peat too. Not a lot of significant roster turnover happening. Granted even if you're the best team you've got like a 15% chance of winning the cup or whatever so there is that.

Edit: gently caress, Pittsburgh is in great shape with the cap. They'll have to pay out a lot to RFAs soon but they're already 12m under and a lot of their older veteran contracts are expiring. And the Kessel/Malkin/Crosby/Letang/Murray core is locked in with great contracts. gently caress Pittsburgh. i am the bird fucked around with this message at 15:53 on Jun 12, 2017 |

I don't get why Fleury would voluntarily leave? Can anyone explain? I wholeheartedly understand why it'd be good for the Penguins, but he has a NMC and therefore should have everything in his control. Why leave a winning team?

I imagine Fleury's agent forces the buyout, because drat does he stand to make a ton of money.

If I understand It correctly MAF has only a limited NMC and if he refuses a buyout the Penguins will just dump him on one of the 8 teams he leaves off his no trade list, eating his entire contract and giving something up to do so. That would be a lot less painful than paying Vegas a sky high price not to take Murray, and they ain't letting Murray go for nothing. It's in MAF's best interests to accept a buyout and that's what he is going to do.

Why leave a winning team? fleury outright said murray is the goalie of the future for the penguins last night so why he'd leave or why not doesn't really matter - one way or another the penguins are almost surely going to be able to get through the expansion draft with murray and the form it takes is what's up in the air now.
