Ya. there's no reason you can't have Boston wearing their black and golds vs the Habs in their red and blue uniforms, for example. If Boston was playing Pittsburgh, or a team with darkish blue jerseys (Buffalo I guess) then yeah, maybe don't wear the black ones, but having to always wear white on the road is dumb.

they should say gently caress it re:home whites/colors and let the home team pick and then the away team can wear their whites if the home team isn't or their colors if they work with colorblind people. ucla and usc had a football game a while back where they both wore their home unis and it was iconic because of that

That would likely be hell on equipment managers. Since football only has 1 game a week, it's much easier to manage the mix and match uniforms that so many teams use. Consider that NHL teams frequently have 2 week long 6 game plus road trips. It's really just to make it easier and one less thing to manage. The NHL does allow it though, like when some teams decide to wear white at home for a random game, but it requires coordination with the other team.

The NFL lets you use your discretion though some teams (notably the Cowboys) like wearing white at home. That's led to weird situations where teams hosting the cowboys "force" them into wearing the supposedly unlucky blue jerseys by wearing white at home.

Pretty sure they're all like this now. They both play home games in the Coliseum and whoever would be the 'away' team for the game, the PAC-12 required to wear whites, and for every half they didn't put them on, they were docked a time out. The home team would call time outs before each kick off in order to make it fair and finally the conference relented and let them each wear colors.

And yeah it looks spectacular

sure, but it's not like it's impossible, and it's only another set of uniforms which probably pales in comparison to all the sticks and pads and skates and parts for when that crap breaks, as well as the actual people going to the arenas.

i think a baseball team had a mannequin they brought along and dressed up with whatever uniform they were wearing so players wouldn't wear the wrong hat or socks

The NBA does color-on-color occasionally and I think it makes it extremely hard to watch. A rink does provide better much better contrast though, so maybe it could work.

DJExile

color vs. color also really depends on what specific colors they are, to be fair.

It's caused chaos too, like that "color rush" NFL game with the jets and... someone (buffalo? New England?) where colorblind viewers literally couldn't make out separate teams at all

E: vvv that was it, thanks :toot:

It was Jets/Bills, with the Jets in all green and the Bills in all red. Red/Green I believe is the most common form of color blindness.

It's usually an early season thing because of the late summer heat. Dallas is weird that they do it year round

Fun fact, it wasn't until 1950 that the NHL required a home and away. Previous to that teams with similar colors would have the away team wear a white pinney, which then developed into some teams making a simple white version of their jersey.

This is a good and correct opinion

It looks like the Detroit jersey teaser has it as a legit crest rather than holes in the logo where the base color matches

Is Detroit seriously changing their jerseys over this

Was watching a Mckenzie interview and he mentioned that on the disallowed goal the reason they couldn't review it was it was a secondary play that caused the goal. He said if Forsberg had shot it and it had gone in despite the whistle blowing they could have overturned it but couldn't because it was a shot, a whistle, then a second player knocking it in.

Dunno if his interpretation is right or not but I guess that makes sense as to why Lavy didn't throw a bench over that play.

I don't see Murray's case either. Kessel, maybe. Crosby would've been my pick both times though.

Led the playoffs in goals with significant clutch ones and game winners and some key defensive plays as well. Granted you can make the argument that the Pens were never really in any significant danger aside from that sudden death game 7 against Ottawa and that Crosby fed him for a lot of his goals but still the guys performance was something, especially for a rookie. And yes Kessel was the one I was actually thinking of while all the media buzz seemed to surround Murray last year so it probably just made me forget. Kessel was something else in last years playoffs.

Yeah, without backing the fabric around the crest is going to pucker and distort and look like poo poo unless the jersey is brand new.

I bet that's a feature, not a bug.

Also I'm glad Fleury is going somewhere that they'll play him, and love him, and clean up after him, and take him to the dog park every day. :cheerdoge:

Yeah Renaud mentioned them so I guess it's something that a respected source is mentioning it but nothing hard and fast.

I doubt the Rangers ask Girardi or Staal to wave to be honest, but who knows. It's like, what, they could protect Holden? Who cares, and why would Vegas take one of those guys without some kind of incentive.

Girardi's NMC becomes a limited NTC on the 1st, or they could just buy him out. Eh.

This is Phil Kessel nightmare fuel.

Also, is this the thread where we talk about MAF now, and how he would be a great fit for a new team like Vegas? A likeable well spoken family man with 3 cups, a bunch of experience giving him the ever allusive "veteran leadership" role, and a better than average player. About as close to a superstar that Vegas is likely to get for the first year or 3. I could seee him as the face of hockey in Vegas for a few years
