From being an assistant manager at Starbucks: Creepy old dude that would always try to pass gay porn mags to the teenage male baristas. Dude that would come in and scream at new hires if they didn't know what his 'regular' was. There was this quiet nerdy guy that would come in and sketch on a big artists pad. We had a girl working there that thought he was kinda cute and she decided to chat with him; after he eagerly showed her his work she came back with an expression between horrified silence and barely contained laughter. Turns out it was all diaper furry stuff. But the worst part of it: the employees, so much stupid teenage drama between employees that necessitated complex scheduling to make sure that Employee a and employee b that happened to be banging and or fighting this week would not be on the same shift and starting poo poo.

Screaming at the staff to make your regular order seems to be a good way to make your regular order a tall with a couple pumps of spit.

If a customer visits a store enough to have a regular, the store's bosses probably value the customer over any of employees

This isn't retail but I need to share this. I did personal banking for a credit union for a little while, and this early 20's girl comes in on a Monday wondering why her balance is so low. "I got paid on Friday, why do I have so little money?" You, uh, spent it. "Well no you see I don't have any more stuff. Well I'm seeing here you spent $$$ at Club, $$ at Fancy Restaurant etc etc. "But.....I don't have any more things like I didn't go shopping or anything." I...well yes that's true.. She wasn't even mad, just couldn't quite grasp the concept that you don't need to acquire stuff and things to spend money. She was still a little incredulous at the end of our exchange and I came out the other end as bewildered as she was when she walked in.

I hate that what people say to me or my coworkers has to be based on gender to some degree. It's incredibly stupid, I know, but I encounter a little of my own even as a dude. It's completely trivial, but it still annoys me and is real. Partially because we have a TV there (which I usually change the channel on as soon as I get the chance anyway), I get asked about the latest sports ball team updates. Why would I know? I don't watch sports. I have to explain this to people on a daily basis that I don't watch sports and if they're making me put a game on I'm not paying any attention. The girls who have worked in my position get asked this way, way less. It's a little insulting both ways, really. That loving old dickbag who wouldn't leave workers alone because he desperately wanted a friend asked me once about playing sports and I said "No." Then he asked me if I was a "car guy" and I said "No." Then there was a pause... and he asked if I was "like a computer guy". Maybe I said "yeah sure" I don't really remember, but like oh no I don't do a manly man hobby I must be one of THOSE guys.

It happens more with grain and yeast substitutions. I hate when people ask me advice and get mad when my solutions for them aren't good enough. Home brewers, for the most part, are pretty chill, interesting people. I've learned more from the customers about beer making than through my own research. You'd think, though, for a hobby involving alcohol, some people would be more relaxed.

It's funny to me when people who are clearly the rear end in a top hat customer come in here and think that their words are some kind of magical cure all. Yeah, I sure have never heard any of those things before. I'm sorry that you're bitter about your hand cramps and it makes it so difficult for you to goonishly dole out "advice" nobody really needs or wants to hear. Try acting like a human being next time you're dealing with a retail drone- you might be surprised to find that they're not rude or sullen at all!

I've got a kid who's gotta be 23-24 and he's in a couple of times a day, every day for a 25oz of Twisted Tea. He's got the red nose and everything. Plus, if people are buying these one at a time and not getting cases, it's almost certainly because they're trying to hide it from someone.
