That info thing seems like it'd be a really great mod if it got added to every mission. Also what I'm hearing is that the next game Guava is commentating is the Syndicate remake, is that right?

I have no idea how to embed tweets. https://twitter.com/XCOM/status/872815512656412672 Looks like we finally have an expansion on the way. EDIT: Oh, I guess it's automatic. Didn't show up in the preview.

The reveal is going on right now. Sounds pretty great. War of the Chosen. Apparently twice the size of Enemy Within. The Chosen are new boss enemies you'll fight over the course of the campaign. There are three chosen, as the game progresses they'll gain new abilities dynamically. You can recruit super strong units from other resistance organisations on earth. New maps in 'dead' cities that were abandoned after the last war filled with 'The Lost', zombies attracted to the sound of combat that will attack both you and the aliens. Looked like there were new advent units in the trailer too, but they didn't talk about that. EDIT: Oh, apparently out in August I think. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n3bENBYSucQ Veotax fucked around with this message at 18:24 on Jun 12, 2017 |

https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2017/06/12/xcom-2-war-of-the-chosen/ posted:As expected, Firaxis announced a full-fat XCOM 2 [official site] expansion at the E3 2017 PC gaming Show, promising “new environments, new enemies and new XCOM forces”. It’s called War of the Chosen and the trailer shows those Chosen, the “ultimate enemies of XCOM”. They are three champions – nemeses perhaps – and they will grow up in strength through the game, learning new skills and abilities. 3 news bosses, as though Valen hadn't hosed around enough, players may finally have their snake waifus fight against ADVENT for them (more likely just altered human forces, though, looking at the trailer) and the whole "What the gently caress is happening outside the cities? Wasn't there some background stories of stuff that even ADVENT was afraid of?" thing has finally been answered in that someone decided to make Fallout Ghouls real. Thanks, Obama! I do love this guy's/gal's poo poo-eating smirk though. Look at that motherfucker. Just look at 'em!

The alien defectors are probably the original collaborators who were genetically enhanced, but not manufactured like the current crop of Advent soldiers.

White Coke posted:The alien defectors are probably the original collaborators who were genetically enhanced, but not manufactured like the current crop of Advent soldiers. They're described as hybrids. The Skirmisher soldier - the big dude with the flamethrower and whip - is apparently a human/muton hybrid. Reapers specialize in stealth and sharpshooting. The Reaper soldier can supposedly fire from stealth without revealing herself at least once. Templars are psionic wildlings, humans who have independently developed psionic powers. The guy in the trailer dual-wielding psionic swords is the Templar soldier.

Yeah, I'm gonna need Jade and Guava to also LP that Mario game. From the look of the trailer and E3 footage, it's practically a contractual obligation.

All of this new stuff sounds neat but how is there going to be enough time to get to use and enjoy it all to it's fullest potential/enjoyment? The time limits are already strict enough as is in the base game, without adding in this extra stuff.

They've said stuff about reworking the existing game and DLC with the expansion (apparently the Ruler Aliens are getting an overhaul with the expansion) so I wouldn't be surprised if they reworked the flow of the game to let you use the new stuff.

They've also said they're making the new expansion more modular so you can turn on or off various specific features from all the DLC you have installed. The revamp to alien rulers seems to be that they don't take actions for actions you take while out of their LOS, and reloading doesn't trigger ruler responses. Also, there's now shipping. If you've played Fire Emblem, pair-up mechanics from troopers being flagged as compatible and then bonding are going to be a thing.
