The Post claims that they “weighted” the results to make sure that those over 50 were given just 39 percent of the voice. But even with “weighting,” by speaking primarily to people over 50—and then including their quotes in the piece as representative of the survey—the Post presented an inaccurate portrait of who we are as a people.

The generator/water pump free energy machine is kinda funny and I'm not sure you actually need to rotate the beds. Producing locally is good idea tho, everyone should consider it if they have little bit of space.

It's not free energy the article says right there that it uses 1KW/h . the generator is a way to recoup the losses somewhat from pumping the water, although I can't imagine it really boosts the efficiency all that much.

Even if the generator and water pump were 100% efficient, the generator would pull the same amount of energy from the water as it added to the pump. With a real generator and pump you're adding unnecessary losses; far cheaper, easier, and better to have the water going straight to the pump and lower the pump head by the water already having some kinetic energy than to do that.

Even if you had 100% efficient generator and pump, you are still losing energy to the pulley system so you would either lose water or need to power the pump. The pump is there to recycle water for reason x, except I can't really think of scenario where it would be useful. If you have abundance of water, you don't need to bother to recycle it. If you have very little water, you will want to pump it all up, meaning that whole thing is just fancy and inefficient way of turning the pulley with electric motor. I'm somewhat doubtful that there exists that sweet spot where water is rare enough that it needs to be recycled but there's enough of it that you can do it only partially. And that's not accounting for the costs of the generator/pump.

I wonder if it would be feasible to do away with the pulley system and rotate the thing by watering plants on only one side. I don't know tho if the plants will like dry period they'll experience or if the system will be so sensitive that environmental variations will gently caress it up.
