Yeah I don't really remember anyone outright trashing those games, outside of the usual "lol the x fighting game is unpopular compared to Y fighting game" ribbing. I don't think any series or FG company has been safe from getting poo poo on in the past 10 years anyway.

The only thing trashed about them was their release schedule (staggered releases with Europe being shafted a lot of the times if I'm remembering correctly) and maybe their DLC practices with a lot of new versions but then again that is a more common practice anyhow and while they don't have as many new fighters they usually have a lot more single player content in them. Gameplay wise they are stellar and I'm sad to not have anyone to learn them with so a purchase is kinda pointless for me since I have a hard time with execution and GG and co are pretty execution heavy games.
