Any primary challenge to an incumbent, especially one as connected as Manchin, is gonna be a longshot at best, but it's better than not trying at all.

Nah, that happened long before - the AFL were always a bunch of right-wing pro-capitalist assholes, and the CIO's president in the late 40s/early 50s favored cooperation with employers and was a dedicated anti-leftist who purged the CIO of suspected communists shortly before the two organizations merged into the AFL-CIO

that same CIO president was also notorious for centralizing funds and power in the national headquarters, starving the smaller unions of resources and concentrating the decision-making in a small cadre of dedicated union bureaucrats

i don't suppose nomiki konst could try actually meeting with a member of the unity commission, instead of a person whose sole defining quality is obsession with hillary clinton and no longer has any actual connection to the dnc

what's competitive contract bidding? does it go for highest or lowest bid?

e: i ask because i understand taking the lowest bidder every time to be a huge issue with government projects, where contractors submit unrealistic cost estimates and then cut corners until the project fails

'competitive bidding process' doesn't actually mean anything, there's no way to have a competitive bidding process on the projects the dnc outsources on

Being a bad dem means you think a dem backed coal baron should be in office instead of this lady

quote:

Do you intend for your campaign to send a message to the Democratic Party?

Oh yes. I don’t care if the DNC backs me or not. This is a people-funded campaign. The DNC has failed us in many ways here in West Virginia. They failed us when they nominated one of the biggest-polluting coal barons in West Virginia: Governor Jim Justice, who mines three miles from my house and puts silica dust in my children’s lungs. That’s a failure of the Democratic Party. I hope we rise up and realize that, Democratic or Republican, we all have the same set of values. We all want clean water for our children, clean air for them to breathe, and to not worry about our families getting buried miles deep in a coal mine and suffocating to death. We also want a clean and stable economic infrastructure so West Virginia can live. We have given so much to this nation. It’s past time that we invest in ourselves.
