Three things killed Ossoff. The run-off system, the fact he didn't live in his district, and Nancy Pelosi. Almost every attack ad focused on where he lived and how he'd take orders from Pelosi. That woman is a loving anchor on any Democrat running in a red or purple district. I can't see how the Democratic Party is benefiting from her in a leadership role. It's not like she has preceded over a never ending string of victories over the last 4 years.

Answer: Forever, but we will keep trying!

I dunno, I guess I never really understood why people want to get rid of deductions. They are good things and I want more of them. They reduce my taxable income.

Some represent economic reality (sometimes it takes money to make money) and some represent social policy (having kids is good for society in general or owning homes)

Lol that's the best part about it.

Short version is that reducing deductions and baking them into a higher standard deduction/personal deduction makes taxes easier and boosts the economy. That way you can make lifestyle choices (apartment vs. detached housing, owning vs. renting, etc) without having to think of tax implications and businesses/individuals can pursue whatever they want to make money instead of being steering to certain careers, products, and choices by large tax implications.

Subsidizing the Realtor profession isn't a compelling economic argument for why renters (who are poorer on average) should have their tax dollars go to people who can afford to buy homes, realtors, and the mortgage industry. Plus, the way the deduction is structured means that the larger your mortgage and the more money you make, the larger your tax break. It incentivizes people to spend more money on real estate and real estate financing, which is not economically better than just having that tax money back in the form of a larger standard deduction.

So would her replacement be to the right or left of Pelosi?

If to the left, why would Republicans not run the same ads about this "more socialist than even Pelosi" minority leader.

If to the right, wouldn't that destroy the base?

Yes, I'm sure if we just get rid of THIS Democrat, then Republicans will be at a complete and total loss having lost their witch they made up stories about. I mean, what are they gonna do, just focus all their hate on another Democrat and turn them into a monster in the bases eyes, and then try to tar all Democrats with them?

When has that ever happened except the last 7 times?
