ugh, I forgot those custom legendaries,

I'm still working on my "2lm" to 4LM mod, I ditched the 4 legendaries idea for the moment until I can find a way of telling fallout to spawn weapons with more than one legendary, on bad people that want bad things to happen to you and your chums.
so now I am merging wipag with 2lm, essentially the "Model X" idea, making all the armor have X-01 stats, but different bonuses, plus the addons that regular armour can get, like stablising, etc.
and then adding the custom power armours to that system, like the X-02, storyteller, etc.
then, merging that mess with un-naked power armour, so whatever you are wearing when you enter power armour continues to affect your stats, (wipag kind of makes that redundent tough)
also, retexing the wipag stuff so it still looks a bit worn. I have decided to just stick with the 4th paint scheme, the camoflage ones.
ah, when I am not doing that, I'm adding the Levian cyberarmour (well, the cyberswimsuit)to the g.i.t.s set.

That sounds awesome. My first fight involving Coursers was such a letdown given that they're talked up like some combination of the Terminator and an Agent from the Matrix and they turn out to basically just be like... dudes with higher stats that use stealth boys.

I was hoping for like, ridiculously fast and tough murder machines which made you want to bust out poo poo like the Fat Man.

Thank you for introducing me to this beautiful work of musical art.

On the topics of guns, I haven't played Horizon in a while but it has an ammo crafting system now. The returns won't be great, but you could buy/loot other ammo, scrap it and make .308

Dragon Boy Suede is silly and dumb and I like him.

As far as ammo crafting, I picked up the one rank of Gun Nut that I have access to, and that gave me a couple ammo recipes, but I think it's only .38 and 10mm, maybe one or two others. I don't even think I can get .308 made through Contracted Work, but I will definitely check on that next time I play.

That might be what I need to go after Corvega, or at least clear out a bit more of Lexington first. There's a power armor raider there, isn't there? That's gonna be a drain on my bandages and ammo, I'm sure. I really like how Horizon changes up combat, and everything else. I'm almost always irradiated to some extent because of the drain Rad-Off and Rad-Away put on you. Once I found a single bottle of purified water, which made that trip a success. Now I can make my own (one bottle a day), but it was a huge step to get there and a huge change from vanilla, where you can basically be a Water Baron from the time you step out of the Vault. Horizon makes the game feel a lot more S.T.A.L.K.E.R.-y, which is good (to me).

NAC is really good with Horizon. I ran to Concord from Sanctuary and hid in the museum because of a radstorm (and because I forgot about the shelter in Sanctuary), because I didn't have any anti-rad drugs at the time, and hadn't made the trip out to Covenant yet.

I'm also about to install the Horizon Weapon Merge Pack, which has a bunch of weapons that were in previous Fallout games, all nice and Horizon-ized.

You need 6! issues of guns and bullets and some gun nut to craft .308 in horizon. I have 5 and it's maddening because .308 is battle winning, robot killing, synth maiming great that I have to get lucky with hunting rifle super mutants and bolt action rifle raiders. Horizon is weird, synths aren't disposable plastic people anymore.

EDIT: The lexington power armour raider has a fatman, so I hope you can save.

I'm pretty sure the perk requirements on recipes are either the regular oerk you can get by level up OR the Magazine one. Otherwise you wouldn't be able to craft Medicated Bandages with just 1 rank in Medic since it needs a Medical Journal 7! perk.

I was creating 308 from 10mm quite early, but often saved it for 762 instead since I lucked upon a silenced homemade rifle (ak pattern sniping piece with a drum mag). Honestly I keep using 38 since it's relatively plentiful and cheap to get plus automatics don't feel as anemic as vanilla, a tricked out 38 smg is my primary tool.

With the carry weight enhancements and ammo scarcity I do rotate through a variety of gear though. Horizon is great.

I've been using We Are The Minutemen and have been having the issue many people have had with not getting any radiant quests from Preston. I know I can restore the vanilla values in FO4Edit, but I'm curious if I even need to. Can I pick up quests from settlements I happen to wander into and just ignore Preston? If I read the wiki right, retaking the Castle triggers after owning a certain number of settlements and not necessarily completing a certain number of radiant quests.

Yeah, all the standard inhabited settlements still have their quests and count as joining the minutemen when you complete them (unless you haven't done Concord yet?). I'd always assumed that Preston's prompts pointedness out quests that were already there.

I guess that's not the case but yes, there are no radiant quest requirements for plot progression in WATM, only active settlement thresholds. It feels pretty natural on account of Minutemen kit getting more advanced as you add settlements, so by the time the Castle opens up they don't look so much like chumps anymore.

Re Horizon, something about how AWKCR and Armorsmith extended works allows you to place armor pieces (legs/arms/chest) on top of what would normally be armor uniforms which occupy all slots (like the BOS Field Scribe armor). Does that break balance unnecessarily? Should I just avoid taking advantage of that?

Yeah, I've just been relying on my willpower to not stack uniforms and armor bits if the uniform gives "too much" of a bonus (like the Field Scribe armor, or actual armor suits like the spiked armor). I've been using road leathers or the green gunner short-sleeved shirt and pants. Just recently got a dirty army helmet, which is a nice upgrade from the hard hat I was wearing.

Also, thanks everyone for the tips on Horizon and .308 ammo. I checked last night, and I can't have it contracted or make it myself yet (but I forgot to note how many guns-n-ammo mags I'll need), so I'll stick with the .38 and 10mm for now (I can make .38 and have 10mm contracted if I need to). Next goal: get the circuitry to make the new Horizon weapon bench, and then more filters to make a water purifier at the drive-in (or put a second one in Sanctuary).

edit: oh, I should have re-read the page, thanks again: it's 6 magazines, plus I'm pretty sure at least rank 2 gun nut.

Robots in general make good provisioners. I too like eyebots for the task, but sometimes if I have the junk I will make a sentry bot provisioner and send him along a route I travel often. Nothing quite like backup that has three missile launchers and a gatling laser.

Awesome to hear. I'm psyched that a modded-out survival playthrough will be my first goes-past-Concord game of FO4, ha.

Anything look amiss here? Game launches and I've scrutinized things with FO4Edit so I think I'm good. Just curious if there's anything known with certain mods that may cause any issues that I can't see looking for conflicts between mods in FO4Edit.

I'll hopefully find out tomorrow and then Sunday about whether or not I induced any issues, or if I can look forward to a kick-rear end survival playthrough with sleep-or-save and immersive fast travel. Even enabled muh cheevos. I mostly really wanted more legendaries and True Legendary Enemies because hell yeah, plus Sim Settlements which I think will work with Conquest overall. I won't screw with Conquest settlements until later, for now I want to build up my settlement network for Immersive Fast Travel while having the ability to save at campsites with Conquest.

To be fair again, I'm pretty sure the filter is disabled by default so you have to go out of your way to enable it.
And mods that that contains no nudity or adult content whatsoever are flagged as adult because for example they require a mod that does contain nudity. And mods easily fall through the cracks. Probably my favorite example of that is this backpack mod. It's just a backpack. Nothing naughty about it. There's just this one screenshot(slight nsfw) uploaded by the mod's author that tells you where he placed the backpack.

Basically if you want, you don't need to see full frontal nudity on the front page. And you can block pretty much all of it when you search for mods. But it's far from being a good system.

Did Horizon become insanely easy between 1.0.7 and 1.1.1? I had a fairly lucky start with Alternate Start, but I'm level 4 with 200 rounds of .38 ammo, and I nearly took out a sentry bot mark IV with rockets on its back just by plinking at it with the laser musket from the Museum of Freedom. Come to think of it, the Deathclaw at the Museum went down suspiciously easily, too. Something feels really off. The only other things I did were to remove Arbitration, and the Synth, Super Mutant, Raider, and Minutemen overhauls.
