5ive's Continuum Research Project's 'The Hemophiliac Dream' is exactly this, check it out.

I've avoided checking these guys out for years because their name makes me think buttmetal, but I will check it out!

Weedeater is playing DC tomorrow, spinning their opener (Black Wizard) atm. Pretty good! And yeah I appreciate how silly it is that I'm whining about 5ive's name and listening to a band who spun the doom band name wheel.

5ive sounds like it could be anything from nu metal to a k pop boy band.

5ive is the name of a boy band as well so it is a little confusing.

Saw Destroyer of Light and GOYA last night. Both killed it, but unfortunately there wasn't a huge turnout. Nashville is kind of a crap shoot when it comes to locals actually going to shows.

If their tour is rolling through your town totally worth checking out for some stoner metal goodness.

They really are! The s/t "5ive" album is still one of the heaviest things I've heard. It really rocks.

I've been a fan since the early 2000's and only a handful of people I've met have even known of them. So badly underrated and I really wish they'd make a comeback.

I have a copy of their Versus EP picked up from HMV years ago. I need to break it our again. Just made me look them up on Spotify and sad they only have one of their EPs up. I sense an eBay hunt coming on.

Oh no worries, I forgot who you were/what you played in the band and didn't want to talk about internet forums in the real world with strangers. I bought the 2xLP gatefold most recent record after Goya finished playing (black band t-shirt, beard, etc). I'm really sorry more people didn't make it out, but ya'll kicked rear end.

Rad! Sadly lacks The Hemophiliac Dream; I legit have no idea how to legitimately get that release other than ebay. It is kind of weird that they aren't more well-known, being on Tortuga and having Jeff Caxide as a bassist for a while.

Their split with Kid606 is one of my favs, incidentally I saw Kid606 a while ago at a glorified house show and he was super great.

They destroyed the place when I saw them on Friday, so see them if you get the chance! They've said they won't be touring the US for logistical/money reasons, but hopefully they can figure out a way to take their show outside of Canada.

I find most of my new stuff on the Stoned Meadow of Doom Youtube Channel. I wonder, is this bad? I see he's trying to monetize it with patreon. Do bands like being on his channel for promotion? Or is he just stealing music and trying to make money with it.

Stoned Meadow of Doom does a mini festival thing and a lot of the bands he puts on his youtube play the festival.

I think the videos run ads (I never see ads on YT for some reason on desktop) and the patreon thing is just to keep him curating and posting stuff. unsure how he sources the music but I believe the artists get royalties from the ads if the music is identified?

Having said that I found a lot of my favorite albums through his page but yeah lately I listen to maybe the first 5min of something and then turn if off because its terrible.

I've met the guy, and I'm playing the fest he's putting on in september. He asks all the bands for permission, and all the money he gets goes back into the bands, and now concerts. He's a super rad dude, and his channel is good exposure for a lot of us. Youtube steals you music and charges $10 a month for it, so might as well have it on a channel that hits people that are going to actually appreciate it.
