There have been rumors of Chicago moving a 'core player' for weeks now.

Maybe this is the set up for that. Unless Toftbo was "it." :iiam:

Saad is younger and locked into 6m whereas Panarin will probably get more in his next contract, and it's possible Chicago might win the rest of the trade. I guess?

I know Saad is really good but what's the angle on trading Panarin for him? To me it seems like it's just swapping two really good wingers of comparable salary because...I dunno, sentimentality?

If chicago can do the saad trade over again with panarin instead they should do it

Saad is younger.

And likely likes Black women significantly more.

I guess it depends on what the other pieces are, but on the face of it that seems really stupid for Chicago

I knew it was going to Forsberg. CBJ was like 4 deep on decent goalie prospects.

I dunno how much I believe Brooks these days. He used to have sources but I feel like he lost a lot of them when Sather pulled back.

People have been speculating that the Rangers might wait until the draft to decide whether to pull off a big deal so they can see who might be available at the number 7 spot for example, but that seems to just be speculation based on some reports last year that they almost had a deal with Arizona for Stepan but didn't do it because they wanted Tkachuk who was picked right before Arizona's pick
