E:^ Jesus, that's even worse. Did Giraldez take a few months off for his kickstarter or something?

With the bigger picture, they still look bad, but it might be the studio paint job here. I dunno. I didn't like the renders either, but maybe someone'll come along and paint them up so that they look superb.

Right now they just look kind of cluttered and ugly, but in a failed sculpt way and not in the angry crust-punk way they should. The combi rifle model in particular just does not work in what should be a pretty basic, easy to read pose.

I really think that's because of the way they did the metallic portions. They should've gone with a different palette I think.

i wanna say on one hand half the inspiration material is pretty bad about this sorta thing but then my brain kicks in and says that isn't a defense. The outrage manga does kinda show though that the design room is a bunch of pervy spaniards in an echo chamber of a room.

The important question is-are their stats as bad as the models? I think a good thing about Infinity is that there's really no units with great stats but terrible models, so you don't feel embarrassed including a good unit in your list.

True. No company can maintain balance while releasing new units indefinitely though (unless they just give up and start giving them the identical stats to previous releases) so I'd rather they release these without unique rules for general, ITS legal play.

They released some kind of ho-hum models from their Manga series rather than models that either need to be re-scultped or never had profiles sculpted for them in the first place. The Outrage models from the Manga.
I think they look alright, but not having read the Manga and having a huge queue of models to paint already anyway I don't feel particularly drawn to buying them.

The rest of the models look pretty fuckin' sweet though. Can't wait to get the Molotok so I can play am Airborne Rangers list and be a huge bastard with a Molotok, FO, and Van Zant.

Alright, thanks. Does the manga have any influence from Macross or any other anime with pop idols? They're pretty popular right now and I'm annoyed that they don't have a knockoff #1 idol in the universe Nico Yazawa yet.

I haven't read it yet, but based on the releases so far I'm assuming there isn't a mecha. But I would be very surprised if the REMs or TAGs didn't show up in future Mangas?

If something like that did show up, I would bet it would be one of the more recently released TAGs, like the Guija and it's sexy pilot.

Man I want a Guija.

Zalabar

Yes, he would like fries with that, thank you.
Each of the mini's is a character from the Manga, with suspenders serving as the pilot of their TAG; an Anaconda, I think.
It is all within the Infinity World, and is trying to do a gritty, cyberpunky story. This one didn't feature the aliens; Yu Jiing and Pan-O's clandestine nonsense was used to set up the plot.

I liked the story; the main characters have solid motivations and goals, secondary characters get a bit to flesh them out and establish them in the world, the art is good; albiet black and white. No pop idols, but I believe there was mini-missile spam at one moment, and you do get TAG v TAG action, along with a hacker duel.

It felt a lot more like a good story in the RPG than the skirmish game, basically.

The operatives tend to be a very good cost/usefulness ratio for nearly all factions, and you can usually split one with a friend if you don't have the other faction.

My Imetron landed which was really good, my Sphinx absolutely murdered a ton of stuff and became a huge pain in the rear end as both of it and the Malignos had the approach covered in suppression fire for a good while until a Chasseur suicide LFT'd the TO off my Sphinx (who failed to dodge). A model also got into melee with the Sphinx who failed to kill it in CC, resulting in my Umbra going all Sith Lord and swinging for B3 on CC1 which was ridiculous. My T-Drone was a surprise star, dropping both an Irmando and the Spetsnaz after the Malignos spotted them both. My Malignos ended up catching a bullet into the face despite being shot at in SF, target needed a 3 and critted through the SF, the bugger!

Ended up winning 7-0, my Sphinx wrecked his objective and stole a Panzerfaust from the Panoply. My Umbra failed to do so but he's a wanker anyway.

Going to be playing a BioTechVore mission against my normal opponent, a Nomads player. Normally I take a very defensive list, with lots of things held back and providing cover-fire to center of the map, and a Squalo with a heavy grenade to force action from him, but, obviously, that won't work here.

I'm thinking about running this:

I really like the ability to flood the zone with a bunch of aux bots to draw (and provide) AROs without requiring extra orders to move, and Joan will help me to get my jerks to the middle of the map without link teams,. However, there's a couple of choices I'm not wild about, but feel forced to take:

The Guardo is a lot of points without being super survivable, but I can't find another good source of smoke to help me get to the middle of the map.

I feel like I need to Nisse to see through smoke on his side, but since I'm going to be forced to the middle of the map, I feel like he's a little squishy in a close-in firefight

Finally, I'm not sure about the Seraph, as it's a Tag with a kind of puny main gun, but I'm attracted to the bot and the super-jump as a mobility tool, but the super jump makes it much more likely to outrun the engineer.

Any advice?

That's a crit.
Remember that troops with a G:Synch'ed Remote can't participate in Coordinated Orders - which means you've got a lot of dudes trying to bail out of the zone under their own power. They're not going to make it, which means you're probably going to lose a bunch of those dudes to the nanite swarm.

Hoooooly did it hit like a ton of brick against my Bakunin opponent. So mission was the special one for the Yu Jing area Looting and Sabotaging (Alien Version). I forget exactly how the points break down. You each had a beacon at the center of your deployment line that had to be destroyed in CC with an anti-material weapon. There are two panoplies and you get points for looting more, plus one classified objective.

So over three turns I proceeded to lose only 60 points worth of completely disposable stuff from group two. No one in group one made an armour save until turn three.

I won the Lt roll and picked table side. I took the side that looked a bit more defensible and my plan was to run The Unknown Ranger forward to punch the poo poo out of the beacon (being the only person in my list with an anti-material weapons). My grunt sniper proceeds to murder anything that moves during his turn one. Turn two Van Zant walks on and murders a huge chunk of his pack field and support units. Essentially leaving nothing but a few scatted Morlocks, a Moderator link team and a zero. The Unknown Ranger (Captain Ariadna) runs to a panolpy, loots it for +1 arm (he is now ARM5) and then proceeds to eliminate the defending moderator link team before walking over to the beacon and critting it twice with his T2 CCW.

I didn't have to make an armour roll for anyone in group one until the ranger was fighting a link team by himself. I tabled my opponent and won 10-1 (I assume). He had his classified, I had secure HVT, panoplies and the main. So that's the only score that would make sense to me. Anyway, America, gently caress Yeah!

Van Zant and the Ranger together are scary mean.

A friend and I are planning on dipping our toes into ITS Monday. Are any of the missions better to start with? We'll be playing 200 points and would like objectives beyond killing each other for 3 rounds. Other guy is relatively new, we've done operation Ice Storm plus some 200 point matches while adding additional rules (suppressive fire, guts, command tokens, koalas and mines, martial arts, but no hacking yet).

The pawsting business is tough work.
If you're running a rules-lighter game and using small points values, you might try Recon instead of true-blue ITS. I've found I either need 300 points to make the regular 4x4 board worth the time to set it all up, or that it's easier just to roll with 150 points on the little foldout maps.

For ITS scenarios, I'd suggest:

Highly Classified - requires a lot of specialists, but it's a great way to learn the classified deck
Quadrant Control - territory over button pushing
Antenna Field - button pushing over territory control
Decapitation - killing the other dude for three rounds, but with a purpose
and Tic-tac-toe, 'cause it's really silly and fun.

I could have run one of the Desperados as a boarding shotgun, but I honestly whipped the list up on the bus and only really cared about cramming in Van Zant and the Unknown Ranger. And having seen the way the game played out I don't think I would have changed it up!
