Is it sad that it hard to care about these Marvel sales after that amazing Amazon one from a few weeks ago?

Was that a pricing error or a real sale?

Think it was a pricing error on a actual sale. Because after a few days the books went from 3.99 for a 19.99 book to 6.99. After that point nobody ever talked about the sale anymore.

I've already got a lot of the most acclaimed Vertigo stuff: read and loved Transmet, Sandman, Preacher, Y:tLM, Lucifer, Scalped, Unwritten, Sweet Tooth, WE3, American Vampire First Cycle. Own and enjoying but haven't finished 100 Bullets, DMZ. Own a bunch of Hellblazer and first volume of Swamp Thing, too, along with Daytripper, though I haven't read them yet. Keep bouncing off The Invisibles, not sure it's for me.

So what should I consider picking up here? Finished stuff is best, so currently looking at Sherriff of Babylon, Unfollow, and probably Ocean/Orbiter by Ellis. Is American Vampire 2nd Cycle really great? I'm put off by the series delays. Cairo, maybe?

When I was very first getting into comics in like 2005, I had a fried who was loaning me a bunch of trades and one of the things he gave me was The Invisibles. I had no idea what the gently caress was going on.

I read the whole series over a week period about a year and a half ago and the only thing I can tell you about the series is that it was saved from cancelation through masturbation.

It's not finished (and who knows if it ever will be) but everything with the words "Astro City" should be bought. Most of the book is in the form of standalone issues or short character arcs; the current run has an overarching plot but it (of what I've read) barely comes up and is extremely meta. I'd suggest buying the older volumes and when the current run begins buying singles (some time after The Dark Age).

I thought ocean and orbiter were OK, probably worth reading. Sheriff is supposed to be great but I haven't read it yet. Finish off the Moore run on Swamp Thing. The layout of the sale is poor but I'd also check if other Moore ABC comics are in there like Top 10 or Promethea (really the whole ABC line was great).

I'm not getting it from this sale but I might buy a physical release in the near future so I'd like to know about the original Shade The Changing Man. It seems to be a Sandman-esque story but I've never heard of it.

Teenage Fansub
Jan 28, 2006

Yeah. It's in that area with the other Vertigo associated stuff of that era. If you dig Doom Patrol, Animal Man or Sandman, it's worth a shot.

It's not actually the original. It's taking concepts from a really oddball prematurely cancelled Steve Ditko series from the 70's.

I realise it probably has more to do with what files the publisher gives them than anything inherent with the site itself but I've kind of been put off comic bundles from Groupees after the Archie/Mega Man/Sonic one there was largely unreadably low-res (not that there's anything in this one I'd want anyway)

The weirdest grab bag of comics. As far as I can tell from Googling, 'Arion, Lord of Atlantis' and Supergirl are there for lettering.
I think Return of Bruce Wayne has been skipped the last few Batman sales, so time to get that if you haven't.
