Crowder is weird because I think his contract overvalues who he is. His contract is great but are you going to win a championship with him as a starter? And if he is a backup you're not getting the same value from that contract.

Would a team that's roster was the worst starter from each championship team from the last 12 years make the playoffs in the East? Assume that player is as good as they were when they won the Finals.

there are some duplicates due to repeat champions but its probably looking like:

Mario Chalmers
DeShawn Stevenson
JR Smith
Zaza Pachulia
Tiago Splitter
Derek Fisher
Kendrick Perkins

So absolutely not

I think you'd have to go all the way back to the Pistons to get a worthwhile player

Edited to go back 12 years. Assume the coach is Pop. For repeats just allow clones. That's a grim team and you're probably right that they wouldn't. Splitter might be the best on that team lol.

Boston can also just say "Nah, we'll take our picks and just aim for a 2022 contention instead" and then Pacers are left without anything. Indiana still has lots of leverage, but two first-round picks and no bad contracts is probably about right when it comes to value in this situation.

Niwrad posted:

I just think you need great to elite wings to win a championship, not above average ones. I think what you saw Lebron do to him in the Conference Finals is why it's tough.

Harrison Barnes & JR Smith are two recent starting wing players to get a ring. I think you can skirt by with "solid" and be fine as long as the rest of the team is good, and Boston in this situaiton is trying to put 4(ish) other all-stars around him.

It wouldn't be, cap hold is 150% for him. The Curry Cap-hold loophole is because he is literally looking at an almost 300% pay increase. That's ridiculous for a guy looking at his 3rd contract.

BET essentially ended up putting all of the "basketball" people together when doing seating at the BET awards.

Wouldn't it benefit LA to get PG now as opposed to later for cap purposes? I'd imagine Indy has decent leverage since if you try to lowball too much Magic will counter

Not really, unless that Indiana is taking back one of the draft picks or Ingram. It is probably more polite than telling Nance and Randle to hit the bricks in 12 months to trade them now, though.

Nah, Marion still had 3 good years left in him after the championship. Then he basically retired after that.

He could've been one of those combo forwards that play a lot of PF in the current NBA since the Mavericks are more willing to go Dirk at Center nowadays.
