i understand that ease of use is important and nerds on the internet like to get particular about poo poo that is incredibly long winded or difficult for marginal benefit, but trust me this is not one of those things. you install ffshow and then media player classic. thats it. ffdshow decodes like almost every professionally or pirately distributed movie format

If you barely give a gently caress about encode/decode quality, is it worth the time? sometimes vlc renders really ugly (I'm using it right now and the output is so bad for this movie i'm thinking about following your instructions), but i suspect its just a bad encode and not vlc's fault. Is it so much better that it will be an obvious improvement, or is it something you only care about if you're obsessive

if it's a bitrate issue then there's no fixing it (if its blocky) but you can def get better detail. its mostly really bad black levels or washed out color. once you see it you can't unsee it

Video game music is not real music. I get douche chills whenever someone mentions they listen to orchestrated Final Fantasy music or something IRL. I feel bad for the musicians who train all their life to perfect their art and then get handed sheet music for some poo poo a guy crapped out a midi of 30 years ago. The first thing I do in every video game is turn the music off so I can listen to whatever the gently caress I want instead.

I'm not advocating piracy but if you ever wonder why the video cam telescreens of movies, you know where some russian guy bribes a theater to let him mount a camera on a tripod, if you ever wonder why those files are 50-200% larger than a movie that's been ripped from a better source, it's because those pirates are having to use much less efficient codecs in order to preserve as much video information as they can, to make up for the fact the source (a household camera recording a giant screen in a darkened theater) is already causing a whole lot of video and audio information to be lost. When you give those same idiots access to a proper source, they use lossy encoding in order to shrink a 1080p blue ray down to something less than 1gb for easy distribution. Porno is hap-hazard this way, whether the source is legit or not, and youtubers rarely know what they're doing as well. There are plenty of situations where you may want to install custom codecs and use something like MPC over just using vlc media player.

when i was in high school the hotness at the time was to use websites to rip mp3s from youtube. the problem was this was before youtube had decently high quality audio so it was like a 64kbps mp3 (192k is reasonable, 320k is almost cd quality) which was absolutely loving terrible. the "cool" tech kid openly derided me for being a retard for not ripping music from youtube when i told people to just torrent that poo poo in cd quality. whats actually p funny is that guy started like actively trying to turn people against me in the weirdest ways because i was giving people hot tips on how to pirate better music learning life lessons about manipulative weirdos through teenage piracy. good times

Snake Eater got a 3DS port with Peace Walker style crouch walking, the frame rate is bad at times but if you played the PS2 version when it came out you might be able to bear it, also you can hack the New models to use the extra core and makes it play much smoother I played it both ways and enjoyed it but with a non hacked 3DS ymmv

its like the only game cartridge i own for the 3ds. the touch screen interface is nice the 3d is nifty but it conspicuously turns off when you go to first person mode. ive yet to beat it and its not exactly an amazing port, but its not bad. its just mgs3 on the 3ds. i did some experimenting with first person homebrew on the 3ds and its incredibly straining to have a view model and your environment at different depths. i think it's why nobody made any and why they just rolled with it for snake eater
