my wife got an email from a marketing firm to set up an interview. she didn't have time to reply and an hour later they sent another one. she replied asking for more info. then they sent two more emails asking why she hadn't contacted them with the last one saying poo poo like "we're not good at taking subtle hints" and "if you don't reply to this we'll have to cut off all contact".

red flags ahoy

I keep getting recruiter emails for .net work.
I'm a embedded Linux emgineer and .net isnt on my resume at all. I even removed Windows from it.

here's a thought: if you can get paid better doing another type of work and it won't require you to move, maybe you should do that? why restrict yourself to one tiny sliver of the field for your whole career?

I know nothing of .net. I have a huge amount of knowledge in Linux, and have made a career out of embedded platforms. I actually really like embedded Linux as well. :unsmith:

up here .net developers are a dime a dozen. I would take less pay for more hassle in a field I am not familiar with. :(

that being said, I am not looking strictly for embedded. I have my RHCE as well. :)

I'm a C++/perl/python/SQL developer and I once had a recruiter call me to offer me a technical support role and then got really offended when I told her I'm strictly and obviously a programmer.

Yocto is fine, but I usually use Buildroot when I can (I am a br contributor and maintain the SELinux packages).

All of my embedded Linux boards run systemd as well.
Come at me bro.

this is the correct answer

(i use OE because it seems a bit more flexible than BR and a lot of things that used to use BR seem to have moved onto it. OE is a bit of a mess but it gets the job done. Hopefully it will be a bit less of a mess once based Poettering bathes the Linux world's inconsistent legacy crap in cleansing fire, but that is a process that will take many years)

It sucks that python has no regex matching hardwired into the syntax of the language like perl but it's still an infinitely nicer language to use, esp wrt OOP
