From his wikipedia page:

In 2006, Tinsley was arrested twice for driving while intoxicated, once in August and again in December, both Class A misdemeanors. After the December incident, he attacked the sentencing judge, Roderick McGillivray, in several of his comics.

Most Log Cabin Republicans are affluent white men, and that's been an issue with the LGBT community for a while. Queer women, queer non-white people, and trans people still tend to have a lot of problems that affluent white queer men now largely don't.

Our son Quinn Bradlee is marrying Pary Williamson in Washington on April 10. My husband's granddaughter Greta Bradlee is getting married the same day in California. In the past few days there have been a spate of negative stories, both online and in print, about the "dueling weddings." It's been hurtful to all four of these wonderful young people. This "dueling" characterization couldn't be further from the truth.

The unfortunate result of the dates being the same was an inadvertent mistake on my part. My error had nothing to do with the two couples who will wed that day.

I once wrote a book called "The Party," which became the name of this column, and one of the things I wrote about was how even the so-called experts screw up. I am no exception. Greta, the daughter of my husband's son Ben Bradlee Jr. and ABC's Martha Raddatz, planned her wedding last fall and sent Save the Date cards. I gave ours to my husband to put the date on his calendar, and he did not. A warning to wives everywhere!

Quinn and Pary decided on Oct. 10, 2010, as their wedding date. Over Christmas, Greta's mother and I came to an understanding that, because of existing tensions, it would be best for all if none of us attended Greta's wedding. Then, in mid-January, we were thrilled to learn that Pary is pregnant, due Sept. 21, and decided to move up the date as quickly as possible.

This ran in the Style section of our capital's paper of record. One of the most embarrassing things ever printed.

There's definitely a younger, hipper right-wing that's slowly replacing the moral majority of the 80s. It's the libertarian/socially liberal crowd that is more accepting.

But only barely, in many cases. They're still bigoted and don't really want to think about icky queers, and just tolerate you in the strictest sense. It's enough that they don't murder you, so you better not dare to ask for anything more. Just tell everywhere how diverse and accepting conservatives are.

As for the DUI, well, that could happen to anyone who knocks back three or four beers in an hour or two in a city without decent mass transit, i.e., most people reading this. Speculation that he’s an alcoholic is just that.

No, that couldn't "just happen" to anyone. Getting arrested doesn't "just happen" to most people, especially old white men. And yes, having a DUI doesn't prove you're an alcoholic, but it is a strong indicator of alcoholism.

True for the most part, but I have a couple of younger gay friends who parrot RWM points, like "give Trump a chance; he said he'd protect us." Reminding them of how he promised to appoint SCOTUS judges to reverse the "shocking" marriage equality ruling doesn't impress them, they just dismiss it as campaign rhetoric. Also how he sought and received support from the evangelical types who'd like to put folks like us into camps, or else just murder us all.
