I just hope with restricting power weapons to only one player during a round (is that right? Or is power ammo just on a countdown?) that all the power types are basically ohk.

I think they're on timers around the map, similar to green ammo crates now.

And the number of rounds you get for picking it up varies based on which power weapon you have. Rockets are obviously more powerful than a shotgun so the shotgun gonna get way more shots.

Do you still lose power ammo on death? If you do, no one will want to be the guy who took all the power ammo and blew it all on one kill trade.

based on some countdown footage from E3 it looked like multiple (like 3 or more) power ammo stations were active simultaneously, which is nice

It would only make sense to be able to pick up someone elses power ammo upon their death, so of course Bungie won't let you do that.

Only one person can pull the ammo from the station but there are multiple stations on timers and poo poo

It's no longer possible for a guy to sacrifice himself to pull ammo while the team hides within the radius, nukes the opposing guy who tried to deny, and then picks up the boxes on the ground.

So whilst playingst Des2iny we're going to have a loadout of two primary-style weapons (one of which has an element but is fundamentally still a pulse/auto/scout/HC) and then a single power weapon pulled from a second, separate pool of weapons? That seems like it will be less fun.

Do I have that right? It's allegedly a PvP fix, right? My brain just can't wrap around what I think Bungie has said about it in the past, that they don't want weapons to perform differently between PvP and PvE [so they're just removing one-hit kill specials]. Like ... you aren't changing weapon performance between game types, you're just changing how much damage a guardian takes from special weapons. Which only ever comes into play in PvP. So...?

Am I missing something?

Yeah I'm sure they are gonna change the guns you carry in PvE and not do anything in terms of adjusting enemy behavior and encounter layout.

I'm skeptical about Bungie making a nuanced and well-considered move on this is all. I like having 3 weapon pools to pull weapons from. Taking the middle group away and adding them to (what was) the least common ammo pool doesn't sound like an enhancement to my fun. Maybe the elemental(?) weapons will have a distinct feel from the kinetic ones. I hope so!! If not they're cutting into my "Destiny guns are good to shoot and feel different" fun and you'd better believe Bungie will be hearing from me!! *has already pre-ordered the legendary sword version*

Yep.

Look above these amazing gifs. And now tone down supers AND movement options a 20%. They will be much less impressive and interesting gifs.

But Bungie seems that they can learn from their mistakes and grown from there.

BlindSite

I think the energy weapons serve an additional purpose. They will damage enemy shields faster, hurt guardians in their super and activate certain perks on weps (one of the exotics reloads when you take arc damage).

The dudes who played the alpha at the reveal also said there was plenty of power ammo lying around quite often in the strike and in the story. So I think to mitigate the "ma Sniper" tears - you'll be able to carry more in reserve and use it more often especially in pve.

I think it'll be a lot less of an issue than everyone thinks. Rockets seemed a little toothless in the footage ive seen while shotguns and snipers seemed pretty solid in terms of single target dps.

I dont mind the changes in pvp really at all because I've always been a primary weapon slut more than snipers and shotguns even if i was pulling off some nice shots with a new longbow last night.

The most pain in pvp over the last few iterations have been sticky nades, shotgun prevalence, nlb/uni remote, subclass fuckery like the sunsinger days and weapon archetype being almost impossible to 1v1.

They've found roundabout ways of removing those issues.

Got bit by the cauldron glitch last night. It's only been around since house of wolves glad to see some consistency in destiny.

Actually the real failure is that epic team wiping supers will max out at 4 players. And since most people don't clump that tight, a 3 kill super is going to be the high water mark.

Plus there's the issue that apparently all supers are roaming now.

same-ish. I'm a pretty heavy sniper but I pulled my kill counts out of DT last night and when I group by Primary/Special/Heavy/Ability my primary is on top. That was nice to see.

Yeah i agree. Its going to tone down those epic moments in PvP. Huge team wipes and feeds are great to get and great to watch.

I think Destiny 2's pvp is going to be more balanced but much more bland. I hope I'm wrong. But that's my gut feeling.

But as long as i can find lag free lobbies in less than 7 minutes then I'll keep my complaints limited.

Lag has always been more of a problem than any of the various strains of aids that have defined the meta.

I still remember that video from like the second or third IB when people figured out using multiple bubbles to feed two golden guns and just wrecked. Gonna be a much less fun game without stuff like that, balanced or not.
