Total: 199

View in Yet Another Squad Builder

Hyperwave the entire lot to PS12 during setup. Once the enemy sets up, place Dormitz directly across from them. Then place the Omegas one at a time as far forward as you can.

Because of the Hyperwave Comm Scanners, the first one you place gets two focus or evade tokens. The second one you place gets three. The third gets four. The fourth gets five, and the fifth gets six.

Go as fast as you can on the first round, and light them up with your Deadeye missiles. You'll have to be really unlucky to lose more than one of the omegas before they shoot, because of the giant pile of tokens. Don't forget that each of them gets to take its own action for yet another focus. And you were smart enough to put the ones that are most likely to take the most shots down last, right?

Deadeye homing missiles with chips average somewhere between 3 and 4 hits per shot, so you'll be dealing a lot of damage. You'll almost certainly kill one brobot. You MIGHT kill two, although it's unlikely. The second will probably be wounded, though.

You can also do Assault missiles if you want to spread the damage around! You'll want to make sure these ships have 2x focus instead of just one, since you'll have to spend a focus just to shoot the missiles.

Next round, Dormitz gets to the fight and uses Vader to finish off the wounded. And the whole time, any time one of your ships miss, another focus comes out to add to the pile.

Edit: Can also go VI on the Omegas, and just take target locks when you move. That's a pure meta call against PS6 Brobots though; deadeye is more versatile when you don't know what you're gonna encounter.

In a regular 300 point Epic game you can have 4x more Omegas. You definitely start going with Assault Missiles at that point.

The alpha strike potential of the list is off the drat charts.

drat if I was allowed to switch from Scum I'd totally try that. The 200 points really lets you build some janky poo poo.

Last week I ran Jabba on a slaver with 4 trick shot cargo chute contracted scouts and Quinn Jast with seismic torpedoes. Cleaned up against a TIE swarm but don't think it would fare as well against brobots.

You're capped at 8 of the same small ship per player in Epic, 12 total per team if it's multiplayer Epic. Also 4 of the same large base ship, 6 if it's team Epic. This is, incidentally, why "8 Lambda Shuttles with FCS and Tactician" isn't the correct answer. Sadly.

Thankfully that rule doesn't seem to apply to this format (or the organizer doesn't know about it.) I've definitely seen more than 8 TIEs on the table before.

Going to stick with BBYZZ for the tourney. It's what I have practiced with for the last 4 weeks and the stresshog played right can just ruin a good list. Stacking a ton of stress on Whisper tonight was pretty funny. Thanks for all the advice :)

edit: Looks like we are going to break a record for our flgs for the number of players at a x-wing tourney. Just had a bunch of Sydney players sign up in the last few hours. Guess they did not hear that there are two tourneys within 30 min of them or maybe they like driving 3+ hours. God I hope I don't choke.

4 Brobots is far from the most broken thing you can do in a 200 point format. It's actually fun to fly and fly against.

Try 8x TLT y-wings if you want oppressive. Or 4x Torpedo scouts + Fenn Rau + Chips/Crane/ClusterMissile Bossk. (Probably room left for a few Zs). Or that stupid Omega Specialist list I posted above.

Plano tackle boxes are the gold standard for X-Wing storage. The Plano 1374 is the granddaddy (I own one, and *most* of my collection fits.

The individual Plano 3750 trays are pretty good and hold a mix of small and large ships.

I also assume you mean the Decimator? It's usually played as a giant wrecking ball you expect to lose. Rear Admiral Chiraneau is the best pilot, by far. Common loadouts for RAC include:

Predator, Kylo Ren (crew), Darth Vader (crew), Gunner (crew), Dauntless title, Engine Upgrade
and
Predator, Rebel Captive (crew), Darth Vader (crew), Gunner (crew), Engine Upgrade

On either build you can sub in Veteran Instincts for Predator.

Basic strategy is to hit them hard, and use fast moves + engine upgrade boosts to avoid firing arcs. Use Vader crew to pick off the wounded ships nearby. The Kylo version also likes to bump into enemy ships a lot, as it can bump, take the Kylo action because of the Dauntless title, then throw a blinded pilot crit onto something to avoid even more damage.

There are 2 videos from the same tournament of the same guy flying the Decimator with Ryad. This was an FAQ or two ago and before Kylo Ren was released, so some of the lists he's working against don't work the same as they used to.

You have to treat the Decimator as a ship with a time limit. With Vader crew, you burn damage to stick a crit on ships that you otherwise couldn't hit (or maybe just want to finish off)
With Chiraneau and Predator, you fly it as an arc dodger because you can safely burn your action with a boost in order to get out of arcs. You still get the reroll from Predator, and at range 1-2 you can change one focus result into a crit.
The gunner/vader interaction means that sometimes you WANT to miss your first shot so you can trigger Vader twice. Say you're shooting at an ace with autothrusters straight into hull (like on a Protectorate Starfighter or a TIE Interceptor). If you miss the first shot (by using predator to reroll a hit), you get to trigger Vader to take 2 damage and deal them a crit, then you get your second shot with gunner which you're actually trying to hit with, and you might trigger Vader at the end of that also. It's 2 guaranteed crits on them at the cost of hits on you.
I find that with Vader crew the biggest mistake is under-Vadering, though it's very possible to over-Vader. It takes experience (that I don't have) to gauge the sweet spot based on conditions.

I got the deep-well version of that Stanley box. If you've got access to a 3d printer, you can make containers for individual ships that also hold a few tokens and the ship dial. They're designed to fit in that case.

2-0 so far with BBYZZ. Love the list but they are long games. 1st went to time due to my opponent being a lil slow second ended with 5 min left. If this goes to 7 or 8 games I'm gonna be wrecked.

Next game is going to be against a whisper/palp/omega leader list. Any advice in the next 10 min would be great.

hoiyes
May 17, 2007
The shuttle will probably nullify your stress hog for the first round, it can absorb 3 stress tokens from other ships (assuming it's the classic mynock special) , the old tactic was always kill the shuttle first then whichever ace presents itself. Watch out for whisper k turning, and passing off stress.

Edit: I would try to get an overconfident omega leader in all arcs at range 2 and just waste him on the first engage.

Welp..... made 8th

A bit disappointed but when it comes down to it I flew the list as best that I think it could be flow. I weaved that swarm in and out of rocks like it was nothing and was able to pull off a stupid number of blocks to line up range 1 shots for my TL/Focused B-Wings. Lots of compliments on my formation flying

Loss 1: I honestly feared this list the most and the player. He has flown Whisper/Omega/Yorr+ palp for ages and is a good friend of Vernon who I got the BBYZZ list from and played against it a hell of a lot. I knew he would gun for the Y-wing since that was the best chance to shut down Whisper. I kept the Y a bit back so that he would have to push everything hard to get at it. He pushed super hard to go for the Y-Wing, but kept Whisper out of the formation's arc, but an intentional bump by me kept whisper in arc for the Y. Yorr ate the stress and BBZZ got OL down to 1 hull, but the Y lost all of it's shields. Next turn thanks to a drat good block by one of my Zs I killed OL and Yorr, but i lost the Y and a B lost all of it's shields.

Had a quite a few people watching and thinking I had it in the bag. Guess they never have seen Whisper flown properly. What happened next was a Masterclass in flying Whisper and only once was I able to get more than one shot on whisper a turn. I was having to pull off reds to even get a shot and rebel captive would double it up. In the end he was just a better player by a longshot.

At least after the match he told me I flew the list better than Vernon and he never came that close to beating him. Awesome guy to play against and as much as it hurt to lose couldn't have been to a nicer guy. He ended up top of swiss and 2nd in the knockout.

Loss 2: Sabbac+2 Defenders(i think)Follows what happened every game expect the Whisper game. I was banging out 5 dials before my opponent would set 1 once shooting started. Also my opponent in this match showed up 10 min late because he was getting ice cream. I don't know what should happen, but it hosed me. All but one of my games went 70+ min because it just slowed to a crawl waiting for my opponents to put dials down. Came to time and I had a stressed out Ryad with one hull vs an untouched B-Wing. With his position he wasn't going to be able to avoid a range one with me having a TL/Focus shot if I got one more turn. Tad bit miffed about it, but what are you going to do.

The bumpmaster list took it all in the end. Everyone wanted us to be matched up since they thought I could pull off the win, but no luck there. We had more people at our tourney in a small rural town than the shop in Sydney. There were people who drove from 7 hours away and bypassed Sydney to come here. Was a great day and got to catch up with a lot of people who I have at the Aus Open.

One question though. The TO who is a friend came over during the first match(which I won) and reminded my opponent that he had PTL when he only took one action. I just assumed he only wanted to take one, but he then took the second action. I did not say anything, but is he supposed to do that? This was not a new player and he ended up in fourth at the end of the day.

Now it's time to come up with a new list I have 21 days and the guy who played the bumpmaster list is coming to it. Loved BBYZZ and flying it has made me a much better pilot, but 5+ matches all 70-75 min is mentally draining and even when you win the mov is trash. Either something with the Scurrg or my newly purchased Tie Phantom.

I'm kind of surprised that there wasn't something in place to give an automatic loss to someone who is late by a certain length of time. Ten minutes is a really solid chunk of the round, and I think it would be fair to give a loss to someone that late to a match. I'm all for flying casual all day every day, but large tournaments like that need some structure.
