what?

So I don't know about everyone else but the commons/uncommons saved this set for me. A lot of them seem aggressively costed, I hope limited plays out well, and it'd be nice (pipe dream level nice) to see a standard format defined by non-rares after rotation.

While the art is bad, it's at least simple enough to remember and identify from afar. A lot of new art is just bad while being much too busy.

To be fair though, it's like music, no one remembers lovely music from the 80s everyone just remembers the good stuff. There's still a lot of very good art now and then (from artists like Seb McKinnon, Nils Hamm, and a few others), I just like the old bad art more than the new bad art.

A majority of the really old set art is awful, if these guys weren't nostalgic about the cards they would see how bad most of them look.

Honestly, this isn't all that terrible. It's quite the powerhouse sideboard card in Limited since it's ability is not a tap ability.

You're right overall, though. Creatures used to be awful.

They really did. Note how the creature base in Legacy/Vintage is predominantly Modern-printed cards.

They make lots of clues and are strong against board wipes. How they deal with Ishkanahs, I dunno..

Edit: I think I want to start collecting 1 foil of each basic land printed. Seems like a cool little project.

i disagree. well not about celestrial prism, i like amy weber's weird cartoon book style, but psionic blast looks bad and doesn't really convey the card effectively imo

it does a pretty good job of showing the 2 damage worth of migraine you give yourself when you cast it

i guess they should have flipped the camera around to also show the thing you're targeting though
