Does the love of PK outweigh the hate for Emelin among Habs fans?

Calgary signed Marek Hrvik to a 2 way 1 year deal. Sounds alright to me, he performed in the AHL at least.

So wtf is going on with Radulov and Jagr?? I would think both would land somewhere by now.

Yeah, Radulov's contract demands are pretty absurd, especially in light of the (in general) very conservative UFA deals we've seen so far.

I think everyone's decided Jagr's too old Who else is left that's worth anything? Grigorenko is still out there?

I would say this is the top 5 remaining UFA 1. Radulov (his demands are insane but he's obviously a solid offensive contributor) 2. Marleau 3. Markov 4. Jagr (I suspect he can still be useful) 5. Winnik

Vanek is still out there I think. And I guess scored 17 goals last year?

jagrs production and underlying metrics are still excellent. someone (rangers) should sign him. also speaking of good underlying metrics andrej nestrasil is still available and someone should sign him.

Someone is going to sign Jagr. I just hope it's the penguins.

Jagr will 100% sign with someone if he wants to play. My guess is he's asking for a lot of money. He made like, what, 5.5 last year with bonuses?

Sitting out the first part of the season, waiting for guys to get hurt and teams to need a 4th line/PP guy and signing on with someone in December or January as fresh as a 45-year-old can be is not the worst idea in the world

Man, if only there was a veteran winger with strong scoring potential that the Oilers could sign for a couple of years while Puljujarvi seasons in the AHL/bottom six... Also, apropos of nothing, there is a casino inside Rogers Place.

I had heard a few days ago that the Stars were going after Radulov pretty hard, but drat. If there's still no news yet, they might be hesitant to commit as much as he wants them to.

30 year old Radulov with the same cap hit as 37 year old Marleau.

The story is that Radulov was offered that contract by Montreal before July 1st but turned it down. The insinuation being that he went to Dallas because he's effectively earning more money due to less tax.

Texas makes up for its lack of an income tax with a high sales tax. Which is also lower than the Quebec sales tax.

By and large places have low tax rates to encourage people to live there in the first place. Dallas and Tampa are pretty much the only teams in the league that benefit from low taxes and a decently supported team. It's not like the Habs, Rangers, Leafs and Canucks have much trouble signing free agents despite far higher effective tax rates. It's not like there's a stream of star players lining up to sign with the Panthers to get a piece of those low low Sunrise taxes.
