the simple explanation is that "not doing anything exciting" = "sounds like fun" the longer explanation that surely the writer didn't put this much thought into is about social isolation and it being better to spend any time with anyone rather than be alone. idk you see what I am getting at here

Moomin on the Riviera (Page 2) I'll try to do these one a day, but I'll miss days for holidays or weekends or whatever here and there. If there's interest, when I'm done with the two stories I already have saved, I have all 10 books that have been released (unless they just came out with a couple other ones) so I can do other stories too. Even though I own all the books and a couple of the movies, I still miss Moomin in the thread :3

So I started reading this thread like a year or two ago and it got me so weirdly invested in these strange characters that I ended up writing about it. Kind of like a primer for the weird poo poo that goes down in some of these comics. https://literallytheworstblog.wordpress.com/2017/07/03/the-incredible-insanity-that-is-newspaper-comics/ I don't get anything out of that website, no ad money or anything, I just wanted to share with you guys since you roped me into this.

My interpretation is that the author is a miserable gently caress with no joy in his life, and doesn't realize that 'everyone acts lovely to each other and no one has fun' is not the norm.

BigglesSWE posted:I gackfukkgreeehhhhaaaaaaAAAAAHHHHH Nancy is just as bad as the other "pop culture references" like Working Daze and/or that lovely big bang theory show, except that the pop culture is pop culture that nobody of the character's ages should give two shits about, and somehow they're even more obsessed with it than the modern pop cultural ones. Like when whats his face is spaced out because he's thinking about the beatles, beach boys, and Roy Orbison or whatever the gently caress for no god drat reason whatsoever. Who the gently caress does that? It's poo poo like that combined with the hackneyed tributes that make Nancy (not Bushmiller's) the Worst Comic in the Thread. Keep posting it, of course.

i've really become a big Heathcliff fan - the art and the surreal-ness of it, and this one tickles me in some way that i can't put my finger on. is it the drawing? the cuteness? the hot dogs on the 4th of july? the kind of like popeye and spinach but hot dogs? I don't know, but there's something this one has that 90% of the comics don't.
