Agreed.

Boy howdy I sure do hope that CNN is prepared to handle the backlash they have invited. I also hope they are doubling up on their security measures for all their talent and that the ratings wind up being worth the headache. I'm not necessarily opposed to outright doxxing anti-semites, but that isn't what CNN did. What they did was publicly threaten to doxx someone in an attempt to intimidate the darker portions of the internet into being silent/behaving themselves. Historically no matter what your justifications for doing so that has always been a pretty loving stupid idea. CNN just did the Internet equivalent of getting involved in a land war in Asia.

CNN were probably looking to provoke a reaction like this, and its a matter of time until someone in the administration or an elected GOP official retweets something that is extremely racist or tasteless even by 4chan standards.

A few years back some investigative online outlet went deep in finding one of Reddit or 4chan's more prolific trolls/CreepShot Activists and the guy was hypergoon-level sad. Like he had some ailment that basically left him confined to a chair for most of the day, his wife couldn't walk, he was just scraping by, and he just spent hours and hours on the internet when he wasn't at his lovely boring desk job.

Guys call him up like "Hey JEWxcoonxSniper1488, what's up" and the guy just turned into the most pathetic Milton from office space invertebrate ever 'Uhhhh I just like to have fun online c'mon guys please don't tell my family I defend posting images of 14 year old girls in yoga pants / told a Jewish holocaust survivor she should Get Baked kekekekeke I'm really not that bad a person my life is really hard c'mon guysssss'.

I've had had over a dozen jobs over the course of twenty years and literally every HR boss in every company I've worked at has been an overweight forty something woman with a bad haircut and dye job who speaks in a in the most overtly chipper yet hollow customer servicey voice possible. I have never seen any of these women have a genuine social interaction with a coworker. If I ever saw one of them on a date somewhere it would probably weird me out more than when I was a kid and and I'd run into one of my teachers at the supermarket.

Edit: And they all have this weird sorta dark, about to snap, vibe around them. It's hard to explain. Like I would be surprised if they were the kind of psychos that babysit actual babies and say mean things to them and pinch them when they cry.

Dude. It's a moron retweeting a moronic meme because it made him giggle.

Quick story: So I worked at a Head Start/Urban League and was our districts Union Secretary. During that time, we got a new HR person who was the sister in law of the CEO, so I knew she was going to suck. She was a part of our contract negotiations, but she made the atmosphere so volatile that she had to be removed by the administration and they put their already overworked lawyer in her place for the meetings. She even forced me onto leave at 4 months pregnant because "I was too pregnant to work with 2 year olds". Obviously, I filed a discrimination claim and we went to arbitration, but eventually I had to get the CEO and local news involved because she tried to void my disability and maternity leave pay. The point being, she was exactly how you described. I have never had an experience with an HR boss that did not look exactly like how you described. Sometimes I think a very certain person (usually a divorcee) has to be drawn to that position.

The Trump retweets of anti-Semitic images is pretty tame. The tweets that cause the most trouble for him is his original material.

Its the rest of the Republicans, who don't have the same low bar Trump has, that need to be careful as the alt-right vs. media fight escalates.

This is going to be a story that grows and grows over time. It feeds perfectly into the persecution complex of Trump supporters while at the same time discrediting one of the main sources covering the treason/crimes that Trump has committed. This story isn't going away anytime soon and I expect to see noticeable escalation in terms of (implied) threats of violence coming out of this situation- directed first at CNN and then broadening out to the rest of the media over a short period of time (couple weeks at most)

This is also backlash from the "White House totally loving blackmailed Joe Scarborough and Mika Brezinski" narrative that bounced around a bit last week. (Jared Kushner should be awaiting his arraignment right now, imo).

I think I am not quite making my stance clear here. I think CNN should have either just up and doxxed him without blinking or threatened to doxx him behind closed doors. I would be okay with either of those courses of action. What CNN did though was try to use the situation to very publicly (and credibly) threaten the rowdier parts of the internet to behave themselves or else.

It is the public threat I am stating was a bad idea. In CNN's place I would have doxxed the rear end in a top hat the moment I saw the Jew meme and I would have slept like a baby. Trying to use the situation as a way to threaten a huge swath of the internet was a dumb loving idea.

I bet a bunch of people on this forum would lose their jobs if their bosses found out they advocated a violent socialist revolution too. Doxxing is bad, which is why it's good CNN didn't publish the guy's name. The disingenuous outrage over CNN supposedly extorting the guy probably means next time they'll just publish the name though.
