Agreed. That was my intent but my point was too subtle. It's unfortunately common and not worth speculating about.

I'd much rather talk about this post, which seems to validate two funny things. First, planetary landings are not going to be in 3.0 but in 3.1 (check out the heading titled "Mining & Alpha 3.1"). And second, you will be able to buy in-game credits for real cash--pay-to-win, baby! (Check out the heading titled "Star Citizen After Release Revenue Streams.")

I would have expected huge outcry amongst our beloved shitizens for these things alone. Curious.

Is this recent or one of the old ones? I ask because that "keep doing what you're doing" thing has almost become a meme for them, due to it appearing on a couple or more other Glassdoor reviews. I can't believe that whoever they have writing these would still be using that tag after it had been outed so horribly already.

Nah, can't feel sorry for him, he's essentially making GBS threads in the mathematical dead centre of an extremely expensive twist shag pile carpet, he's going to get his nose rubbed in it after he's finished and he's going to deserve it.

When it is all over, he will of course go dark on communication and hide out in a janky yet asthetically pleasing mansion like he just sold a dodgy motor to a bad tempered, vindictive, kickboxer, but he's a diva and has gotten acustomed to seeing plebs grovel before him, he will yearn for the attention, even if it is the polar opposite of his usual majestic treatment.

3.0 is as close as never before and we are all excited to see all the fantastic additions and changes in the upcoming mega-patch one way or another! :)

Besides all the awesome new stuff like Moons, item 2.0, Missions and such, there is one very basic thing I have very much in my mind: SCM speeds. We have now had several months of play with the slower SCM speeds in 2.6 and I am interested to hear how you guys feel about the current speed caps after all this time.

The slower speeds where introduced mainly with the argument, that they make combat closer and more personal. This did indeed happen to some extent, even if we for the time being ignore the existence of the Afterburn mechanic. At first I was merely skeptical.

Now after several months of giving the current SCM speeds a try over and over again I just cannot say that I like the slow speeds.

Here my reasons:
  • They make speed management too easy. In the past I had lots of fun dealing with speed management, back when we had CRU mode, if you remember. Learning to judge distance and relative speed, to know when to change acceleration-direction to negate my speed in the right moment and avoid unwanted jousting and so on and so on. It was great fun. It was a layer of skill in which I had started to get good and had the feeling that I could get even better. This was totally lost when SCM speeds where lowered, CRU removed and AB made the way that it is now. Here, I remembered this old video from patch 2.4.1 where I did some CRU manual landing. And what I see in that video from my current viewpoint is not the best I could do by far.
  • The current SCM speeds feel like forced training wheels. This is a thing that will apply to every single member of the community as soon as he/she flies often enough to get a good feel for the ship. So far every half dedicated pilot I know who played at least a few times a week reached a good enough level of ship control of the type that I described in the point above. As soon as such a point is reached, the low SCM speeds mostly only continue to exist for the benefit of fresh players, who have not yet managed to get a feeling for speed and speed management. I have had countless combat situations with good pilots back in the old days where we had up close and personal encounters most of the time even though we where both permanently in CRU mode. Simply because we managed our speeds and usually stayed within 200-300 m/s simply due to our own ship control. I was part of the skill of flight. (Which I still do in 2.6.3 - but more on that later) (PS: But overall CRU speeds where a bit too high for average combat. Some place between CRU and SCM would be the sweet spot. See below for more on that)
  • The low speed limit takes away from the feeling of being in space. I am a pure decoupled pilot and love the freedom of drift. I understand that certain speed limitations are necessary for gameplay and network issues, but the current speeds are far too restrictive to provide a proper sense of space. Not to mention that with the current acceleration values we reach the speed caps within 3-4 seconds or less, sadly.

Overall I think to have limiting SCM speeds for fresh pilots is a very good thing. It allows them better control of the ship in early stages of the game which is in parts already complicated enough. For the players with more experience such speed limitations are simply killing a significant amount of possible fun and skill.

In 2.6.3 I still usually play with my substitute CRU mode thanks to this bug. (It is basically staying in AB all the time, but with normal SCM accelerations, which makes a big difference for practice ship control.) And again close quarter combat is no problem - if I want to. ;)

So my hopes for 3.0 are these:
  • Double the maximum SCM speeds.
  • Create a default ship related SCM speed setting that is similar to what we have now.
  • Give players the option (In the Menu or somewhere) to set their own preferred SCM speed cap within the min and max range of the SCM speed available for this ship.
  • Totally rework Afterburner so that is has a notable "charge up" time and has a slow acceleration to speeds around 2000.
Overall I simply hope to have reasonably high speeds available to us that actually make our skill with speed management count.

How do you feel about this topic after all this time with 2.6 SCM speeds?

I don't see where you included motion capture here. Have you lost your mind?

All of your bullet points should be motion capture.
