All this Sniper hate feels soo odd to me because Snipers have always been my workhorse. Slap on some AP rounds and either I can deliver a devastating first blow against anything or I can Serial the map to death.

So I guess Waylay is Shoot+Enter overwatch? Interrupts sound cool too. Whiplash is a free action attack? I note that there's additional mission types too.

Last night she was on a mission with AP rounds, and double-tapped a Gatekeeper from full health.

That's my point, in this game it would make sense to have them up against eachother because of the way the game works, but in that one you'd never want snapshot.

There's not much call for snapshot in XCOM 2 because it conflicts with the expanded Gunslinger class. From reddit: quote:There's also a Skirmisher Resistance Order that gives you an expendable ADVENT soldier for a mission.

The problem was never snapshot, it was that it was against squadsight which really should have been the very first perk. Snapshot vs. drat Good Ground would have been ideal.

The Chosen better be bringing some serious challenge because if the skirmisher is half as versatile as they're describing it will dominate the field. Giving them responses to every alien action is insane. Edit: They also have a skill that gives them extra actions next turn for each shot fired at them and another skill that lets them take as many overwatch shots as they have actions. And their gun has built in rapid fire? Geeze. Wicked Them Beats fucked around with this message at 17:00 on Jul 6, 2017 |

Speaking of reactions, I took a spark with the Intimidate perk onto a map that had one of the upgraded sectopods from Better Advent or one of its contemporaries. Sectopod sees spark, shoots, spark intimidates, it fails, but this triggers Annihilation Protocol and the Sectopod gets to shoot again. So it shoots the spark and the cycle repeats until the spark is dead. My spark brought the bark, but the Sectopod brought the bite.

Skirmishers look loving great though, pity about their name. Class, maybe, but that's a weird faction name. It looks like they have pistol level damage on their rifles so this tracks. Honestly they seem to be an extension of Gunslingers more than anything.

Sharpshooters should get an extra ammo-only slot the way Grenadiers get a special grenade-only slot, even if it only applies to the sniper rifle. Then you could bring separate pistol ammo if you want. It's actually a little weird they didn't do that since they're the only 2 gun class. Also who could have guessed the Ethereals were so close to mass producing such an unstoppable Advent soldier; just needed to give 'em a grappling hook and a little free will.

Maybe it's been answered already, but how many of the changes (like alien ruler behavior/AWC removal) are going to be patched into the base game, and which ones will be part of the DLC?

Specialists get unfairly dumped on. The "every successful overwatch has a 50% chance of triggering a subsequent overwatch" skill is insanely good. Especially when paired with a superior repeater. Especially when using flame rounds. Especially when your AWC skill is something absurd (I had a guy with Serial, but that's a little TOO absurd.) I'd start fights with "activate serial," then "aid protocol self to get an overwatch shot," then open up on an unsuspecting pod. Usually his "opening shot" would result in at least 3 rounds being fired, and an entire pod either disabled/on fire, or outright dead. Then I'd use the last few shots to clean up the mess with serial before ending the turn on a reload. I imagine chain shot or a similar skill would work ALMOST as well. e: I mean, if we're just talking vanilla, they're not the best class. 6 grenadiers would wipe the floor with anything and everything. But it's still a useful class!

I also use specialists to let Rangers take some ridiculous risks. Aid protocol giving the Ranger another free overwatch shot and defense bonus is great. Charge them into a group of high-priority targets and they just melt things.
