tomo has the normal reaction there, where the ds is just an object she can return at any time and not the totem for the Most Important Promise.

Tomorrow Jun hands it back, says something vague about goals, continues to not smooch cute strong lady.

carol is gonna take it and jun will know true despair

These characters using a DS as part of their childhood makes me feel really old. I remember getting a DS after it came out while I was in college.

chumbler posted:Maybe this will drive Jun to get better around girls. I almost read that wrong and thought you said "to get around better girls" and did a double take. Carol and Misuzu are very good.

True, his attitude around other girls is like "what are these mysterious creatures" which can sometimes be funny, but we've been with Jun long enough to go, "really???"

The only Jun moment that has ever stuck with me is when he hung Carol and Misuzu's hairbands from that sign.

Tomo the only way Jun can stand up to that bullying is by kissing Carol or something like that have you thought this through.
|
# ? Jul 7, 2017 07:33 |
|
Why did I even ask that
|
# ? Jul 7, 2017 07:33 |

he could in fact stand up to carol's bullying in lots of ways that don't involve running away and crying. whether those methods would actually be effective is another thing entirely.
|
# ? Jul 7, 2017 07:48 |
|
well remember this is tomo logic. carol is the smartest person in the entire thing and her plan for 'there is a guy i like who doesn't treat me the way i want' is to do nothing for a while and then pin down jun. so clearly the only way for jun to stand up to carol is to go to date her
|
# ? Jul 7, 2017 08:01 |
|
Yeah, and that'd actually kind of work at defeating her because she'll end up like when Misuzu dated Jun, physically exhausted and dead inside
|

This is extremely good

Maybe it's ok for Jun to accept being just a gameboy who cowers behind Tomo.

she will keep popping up, confusing and terrifying jun until he ends up married to tomo without either of them being quite sure of what happened

Carol has instilled fear into Jun. Now she can control him as she pleases.

So now we're going to have the obligatory nurse-them-back-to-health chapter(s), but with the twist of it being PTSD rather than the flu. Okay, sure, if the manga has to spin its wheels at least it can do it while subverting a trope a bit.

Kaguya at least has the excuse that the two of them think that they absolutely have to get the other to confess first; Tomo and Jun are just being goobers.
