Imagine if at the very bitter, desperate end they start putting up whatever concept art ships they had in reserve, like the loving sword-and-board ship Fuzzy Modem helped design, with very little thought and QC, for very cheap. I can play that out in my head.

X-Rebirth (I've never played an X game before and am enjoying it immensely, shut up!) my sci-fi gland has been nicely satiated.

Buy Albion Prelude next sale and never look back. I said, NEVER look back. Rebirth is a sad window on what could have been had Bernd not entered a weird console psychosis. He's promised to not do it again.

The 'storyline' in Albion Prelude is bullshit, but you can get into the sandbox with a plethora of fan-produced content and scripting to make your trade/loving things up empire a reality. Personally I enjoy the litcube's universe total conversion, but there are a bunch more things that can change your game experience up.

I totally mean it. Rebirth isn't really an 'X' game.

I totally mean it. Rebirth isn't really an 'X' game.

If you 'd never played an X game (so you weren't expecting X4) and picked up Rebirth fairly recently, I can see someone enjoying it. It's not a terrible space game these days but it's still a terrible X game.

I concur on grabbing Albion though.

We'll have to come up with some kind of trophy to send crobbler if this is anywhere near accurate.
It's actually probably not far off. If the minimum burn rate is $5m a month, as that one leaker dude said, that's already $60m a year. I know, $5m a month sounds like a shitload of money, but with 400 employees across 4 studios, the HR/admin costs of just keeping the day to day running are intense.

Hell, I'd probably put their monthly burn at somewhere between $6m and $8m.

What's going to be really funny is if actual news does break, no one is going to give derek credit for "Calling it", and he will have his own meltdown.

I've nearly picked it up several times. Is it worth just diving in with all three editions? the steam page says there's X3:Terran Conflict (Presumably the Base Game), X3: Albion Prelude (An old fashioned expansion, like they used to do back in them good old days.) and X3: Reunion (Is this another Expansion or some kind of remake?)

Also MoMA, is there any reason you show up from time to time, just to act smug (despite the fact you are consistently owned) and then vanish? Why don't you stay and fight your corner anymore? I remember lurking here befroe and very much enjoying feisty MoMA.

Reunion was first. Get Terran Conflict and Albion Prelude. Play Albion Prelude.

I don't show up 'time-to-time:' I'm here always, even when taking a mod-initiated vacation. I highly disagree with being "consistently owned." I've doled out my fair share around here. It's just that sometimes MoMA is really busy. Fiesty MoMA likes to play when CIG releases content that directly contradicts some of the "theory" that is rampant around here. And now MoMA is stick talking in 3rd Person. Will anyone help MoMA?

UK alone is like 2.4 mil per month based on their taxes, right? Even if the other 3 studios bring the burn to 3 mil a month by some dark accounting magic and even if the fund tracker is 100% legit they are still a minimum of 6 million dollars in the hole on 2017.

"Punches above its weight" is an open admission that this game will be built around power creep and planned obsolescence and a need to buy new chariots every year if you want to keep up with the rest of the players, which is hilarious when you consider the early backers bought in on the ground floor believing that their limited-run chariots would give them a permanent advantage in the game. The need for more money means more new ship sales and each new ship has to be better in some way that the library of previous ships in order to get people to buy it.
