Getting rid of 20 second timeouts that take over 45 seconds is a great idea, very much on board. I liked the messiness of the trade deadline, but having guys switch conferences right before the all-star game will be fantastic. We definitely will see all-star jerseys with names written in Sharpie on the back.

Those look like good changes but man, it's already hard enough to get a beer at Talking Stick Resort and Casino™ Arena during halftime without missing some of the 3rd quarter. That's more of a facility issue than a league one though.

The simple answer is just to let them play for their original side since they were voted in to be the east allstar not west allstar etc. But honestly they should just abolish the east vs west allstar game since it's now the worst part of the weekend. Let's get in some new contests in like allstars dancing. Allstars synchronized swimming. Allstars curling. Allstars iron chef. Allstars banana boat.

i appreciate the NBA's willingness to consider and implement rule changes that make the game better to watch, it feels like they do a better job of that than most other leagues, while also not getting too crazy. All the timeout and time based stuff seems positive, I don't really mind the length of games but I know some people do, and I've thought for awhile reducing the number of timeouts is a good idea. I also know one of the biggest casual fan complaints is always the timeout/free throw battle in the last few minutes, and reducing the timeouts some seems like a reasonable way to improve that without dramatically altering anything.

E: Alternates happen already. It's an exhibition game. If they don't have contingencies already they're more thoughtless than they should be capable of, given the other rules changes (but then they let the Warriors send the rest of the league down to triple-A).
