I might be remembering wrong, but I think some weighted value gets assigned to videos after a recent update, so they're more likely to show up in your feed than images. So the clickbait pages just started making still imagine into videos to take advantage of it and not lose out on those sweet clicks.

So some of you probably know Canuck the Crow. He's a local celeb bird in Vancouver, and the Pacific National Exhibition decided to donate $1000 to a bird hospital in his honour. The people he associates with have agreed to take him to the expo to hang out because people want to see him. As part of the marketing strategy, PNE released a statement saying Canuck has been hired and is making $12.27 an hour. At least one person can't handle it.
