DeimosRising posted:Based on what, besides the eye test? in a vacuum and on a stat sheet maybe as well. Paul George would be a significant downgrade for the Warriors for the time George is under contract. Klay fits the team needs better and has grown up in the system, as opposed to going from a situation where he was the undisputed star of a team and having to learn where he fits in. It would also be trading 2 years of Klay for 1 year for George under those circumstances, but all of that is why it was an instant no from the Warriors front office.

DeimosRising posted:Based on what, besides the eye test? Better versatility, far better rebounding, better passing, better scoring inside, and probably just slightly better on defense. Klay is a better shooter than almost anyone, and works his butt off on perimeter defense, but George is better overall. Like I said, it still wouldn't have been a good trade.

At this point, the Warriors should literally not trade a single one of their big four unless it's Draymond for Lebron James--he's probably the only one you could trade for James and expect to improve the team. Regardless of how superior anyone else is individually, the Warriors pieces fit together so well, there's no reason to throw off their balance.

I think they experimented with playing Hezonja at the 4 the last few months last year. But I don't want Isaac buried either. I hope he bulks up and can play some 5.

Didn't the Magic just draft a wing player? Depending on the numbers this sounds like another 'lol magic' signing.

The Celtics aren't going to retire Ray Allen's number. https://twitter.com/AdamMKaufman/status/885915766075404289 I don't know how they can think of him as disloyal when they tried to trade him a million times.

The only reason I could guess was loyalty but I really have no idea. I believe they'll retire Garnett's number because Garnett embraced Boston in a huge way and really made the team revolve around his attitude and he established the locker room culture. It's not to say Ray wasn't valuable to the team, he put up awesome numbers and he was awesome to have on the team, but that was KG's team through and through and I think most memories attached to that championship revolve around him and Pierce. The old man in me thinks they retire too many dang jerseys anyways
