Yeah Tier 1 mode does change difficulty beyond standard difficulty levels.

Tier 1 Extreme is definitely extremier. I'm also definitely enjoying the game again and coming up with new strategies and gimmicks to deal with it. It's cool. Plus the LVOA-C you get at Level 5 actually looks quite decent statswise. Only 25 more levels to grind...

Tier 1 playability appears to be entirely down to your group. I played for like 3 hours last night with a really savvy group. You have to REALLY be on your toes because not only do the enemies hardly miss, they're super aggressive and will charge your positions. You have to adopt some pretty 'safe' tactics and use the hell out of your Rebel Spotting.

I play tier 1 solo on extreme. It's actually a lot of fun. Just remember to call in rebels if you get spotted, then moonwalk out until things calm down and/or the rebels kill everything. You mainly get cosmetics (some sleeve tattoos, a shemagh that is supposed to be red but is bugged and grey, the Santa Muerte motorcycle, etc), however as mentioned you get a king poo poo awesome HTI (unfortunately covered in gold sequins, rip my immersion) with very little bullet drop at 40. The HTI can still be used outside of Tier 1 mode and is still genuinely better (significantly so) than the regular HTI outside of that mode. Level 5 looks like it grants you a king poo poo awesome LVOA-C that outdamages the regular Mk 17 (which has the highest damage rating of any AR) that I'm looking forward to trying out, but by tier 30 the grind is getting grindy. If you want to grind, the three "destroy the coke plane droppings" missions in Inca Camina give you a lot of XP for minimal effort, and it's super easy to cycle through them thanks to convenient helicopter spawns (and one of the locations you can straight up basejump onto from the safehouse). Also, the final boss mission in Inca Camina drops the same amount of points, can be basejumped to from the nearest safehouse, and requires zero effort. Basejump onto the ridge overlooking the meet, call in a mortar strike, jump off the ridge and sail away until you lose your hunted status, then fast travel back to the safehouse and repeat. (Or stay and kill everyone for the XP, your choice. Just remember to sync shot the Unidad assholes so they don't call for backup, and watch out for the Unidad chopper that flies by. Shoot it down with your raver-scabies HTI for a cheap hit of XP.) Speaking of the raver scabies HTI, that thing is awesome for helicopters because it shoots so flat and the bullet travels fast. It's pretty close to point and click. You can repeat the missions for full XP every time you level up, and you can continue to repeat them (I often do because they're so easy and actually pretty fun to play with different ways of completing them). You can use supplies to upgrade your weapon damage, but the upgrades only work in Tier 1 mode. I recommend upgrading your primary weapon, the raver scabies HTI, and the Vector for the large number of rapid stealth kills you will need to be performing when you hit a significant base. You will need to rely on the rebels a lot when solo. They're very useful distractions. Knocking over supply convoys in Tier 1 is a great way to get resources... but it's a loving PAIN IN THE rear end, because the truck doesn't get damaged by collisions, only weapons fire, and your teammates seem to be using BB guns in Extreme mode vehicle combat. The most reliable method I've found for knocking over a convoy in Tier 1 Extreme is: - Set up a roadblock by parking a vehicle across the road. Do not position yourself behind the roadblock. Go off to the side of the road, preferably an elevated position with abundant cover. - Call for rebel reinforcements. - Drop C4 at the point where you want the lead escort vehicle stopped. Set it off at the appropriate time. Do not gently caress up the timing. - If you want to show off, drop another brick of C4 far enough back that it won't damage the supply truck but *will* take out the other escort. - Once the C4 goes off, stop the truck by shooting it with your primary weapon until its health bar drops below half. If you've got the angle, snipe the driver; if not, just shoot the truck until that progress bar goes below 50%. With an upgraded Mk 17 you should be able to do this with a short burst of full auto fire. If you're quick, it won't even make it as far as your roadblock. The driver and passenger will bail out and, typically, surrender at this point. - Once the truck is stopped, kill the helo. Again, with an upgraded Mk 17 this should only require a short burst. Or use your raver scabies HTI, or a grenade launcher, or strong language and rude gestures. If you did all this right you should be able to loot the truck and get a full load of supplies! The supply rewards do scale with your tier as you level (you get a 100% bonus at tier 30). Of course if you just want to be safe and/or lazy, just loving carpet the road with C4 and blow up the truck and its escorts. You'll still get some supplies and full XP, plus the XP for all the kills. ETA: Yes, you can use mines, but it's too risky most of the time because of all the civilians. Go for it if the road is quiet, but I haven't really found any compelling reason to go with mines instead of C4. Kesper North fucked around with this message at 21:12 on Jul 9, 2017 |

How do you repeat missions once the game is finished? I just got to 100% and want to re-do the last mission for the "good ending" but can't figure out how. Not to mention, wanting to redo them for Tier 1 mode XP.

It looks greyed out, which is a poor UI design choice, but it's not. If you click on one of the missions you will get a dialogue asking if you want to replay it. The mission will start, replaying the original dialogue and dropping a marker on your map. (But, stupidly, the marker is also grey, so it's harder to pick out on the HUD than the yellow is the first time you play).

While I do that all the time, I really wish there was an option to just reset the map, NG+ style, this would make the new Tier 1 mode even better.

There's a couple missions that are hyper easy to farm. I go to Inca Camina North Plane, South Plane, then the Boss. Then Fast Travel to Koani Charlie and turn on the Convoy mission. You can snipe the truck with the HTI from the spawn point, then go back south. It's kinda boring, but any level beyond 40 is super grindy. Some rando online showed me a couple other decently short missions, but those 4 are really the fastest. edit: Koani Charlie, not Bravo robotsinmyhead fucked around with this message at 01:21 on Jul 11, 2017 |

Inca Camina is great because you can base jump from one mission to the next without worrying about spawning vehicles or dealing with twisty roads.

I haven't unraveled this, but it looks like they significantly reduced the Tier One XP payouts for redoing misisons. Also, I'm not sure how you're supposed to do this Week's Challenge Mission without youtube cheating. I didn't see much that would lead you to the next spot and I only ever found one of those 6 spots (5 clues + Yeti Spawn) on my own.

So I've just started this. Are there fewer possible skill points than skills? If so, which skills are horrible traps and which are recommended? I've started by enhancing drone battery life and range, which seems to be making a huge difference, and also in extra automagical takedowns. The game tells me that you keep your difficulty when you join a coop session. How does that work? If I'm set to "gently caress you" and I match with "bullets can't hurt me," what happens? Do I get one-shotted while he doesn't, or...? As an aside, that first rescue mission was really funny to me because I had no idea what I was supposed to do, so I rolled up in a HMMV with a minigun on top and told my AI buddies to start shooting while I did donuts. After everyone dies in a hail of bullets, then it tells me about planning assaults.

You'll be swimming in skill points; you get them for finishing missions and some of the little doo dads you pick up give you as many as five at a time. I put my points in my drone first too and it worked out OK. Get thermal vision early, that's a life saver, and invest a couple points in the grenade launcher so you can deal with helicopters and trucks easier. ADV Suppressor will remove the damage nerf from using a suppressor, that's a good one too. Not sure about the multiplayer difficulty thing. I am sure about the difficulty of Tier Mode past about 35, and that difficulty is "gently caress this." Now to schedule therapy sessions to work through the feeling that I'm playing the game wrong if I turn it off.

The only thing that could lightly be considered a "trap" is that with the best sniper rifle (HTI) if you max out vehicle destruction you will kill convoy trucks in one hit. This is bad since you get less loot. If you leave it at two points you can still instakill helicopters but not the trucks. This is mostly irrelevant after you get all the fun tools like the EMP drone but worth considering.

I notice some bullshit about a store. Is there any in-game way to earn these store points, or only by giving them real money? Because gently caress giving them real money to unlock crap.

The store is a real cash shop, yes. It's pretty much just extra junk and lazy early unlock packs so it can be ignored entirely.

Speaking of the store, am I crazy or was there a purchasable pack for challenge season 2 rewards up on the store on Tuesday that is no longer available to purchase? I missed some of the cool stuff (the rifle, the skull facepaint) and had a couple of extra credits, but didn't pick it up when I first saw it. Now it appears to have been removed.

For the first time last night, I got thrown into a group with 3 guys who all didn't have Tier ratings. They were just starting on Communications Station side-mission, so on my arrival, the difficulty setting went up like 3 notches for them. I think they failed the mission 4 times before they stepped back and reconsidered their tactics. One guy was so loving hardup for helicopters it was impossible to dislodge him. We were doing a mission with an HVT extraction. I had the guy in a pickup, and he insisted that we move him to a chopper for evac. Someone pulls the HVT out of the truck and walks him directly into the tail rotor and splashes the mission.

I'm loving the changes they made to the way vehicles control. Specifically, the helicopters are way more agile.

I'm on the fence about the new helicopter flight model. On the one hand its actually possible to aim at something and shoot it to death with a helicopter, which is great. But it just feels really weird, like it feels like you're just driving a car around in the air gotta say I'm surprised how addicted I am to this game. I've turned off all hud elements and changed the audio to Spanish (which I only barely understand) and I've long since abandoned the idea of doing all the main missions, I just sort of wander around until things happen and since the world is so huge and has so many different kinds of landscapes its still great

I'm at T33 now and I love Tier One mode. It finally gave me a reason to play on Extreme difficulty and it's fun as poo poo. You need to use every tool at your disposal or you will get hosed the gently caress up. Here, have some GIFs for this dead thread: I don't know why but I had a really sudden urge to shoot this plane Helicopter fun! Here's a convoy ambush that turned into a sleek nighttime, uphill raid on a heavily-fortified cartel base in Mojocoyo. Apparently I need to drink more Basil Hayden when I play this because I was a pure ~Tier One Operator~ while I was rolling on the whiskey. Both the ambush and the raid were textbook and I'm glad I managed to capture it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bfn-pV0ErJo
