I have a theory, and probably not a very good one, but I think that the longer a player is in the league, the more his prospect shine starts to wear off. So, you have a dude like Forsberg who is in his third year, and he has pretty much cemented himself as a 30-goal/60-point guy at 22, which is an amazing place to be, yet people are looking to guys who are still close to being prospects and wondering "oh boy, I hope this guy turns into someone like Forsberg."

I haven't fully fleshed it out.

I see it as more he's cemented himself as a 60pt guy and isn't likely to move up from there dramatically. With a guy who puts up 60 at 20, you can hope his career trajectory continues up and he'll be an 80pt guy at 22 or 23. With Forsberg you have someone who's been consistently at that point for a few years now and a breakout to that upper echelon of scorers is looking a lot less likely. Nothing wrong with Forsberg as a player, but he's a 2nd tier first line centre.

I spent way too much time deciding to pick Jeff Carter.

I almost took Monahan over Jones. I really like boring Sean Monahan - to the point where I'm almost certain I overvalue him, but he's awesome all the same and I'm surprised he went so late in the 2nd round.

For here on out I'd just do some back and forth of highest scoring available Forward or Defenseman still available until he shows up or doesn't unless we find a taker.

Well it's Kessel and Jultz if we're going for under 30 or Kessel and Keith if we're going straight for points. Keith might be the better logical choice than Jultz even factoring in age. He's got another 3-4 years left in him and I could see him playing out his contract pretty easily, actually.

I'd say if it goes another round or two and we can't find a taker we can do a consensus BPA. We had to do that before and it worked out pretty well.
Might be worth posting it in the off-season thread and seeing if we can get a taker in here though.

We'll bend the guidelines (highest point F/D) as necessary to make sure to try and avoid that from happening.

e: Also I just added Phil Kessel as LA's first pick since that seems to be agreed upon. I do agree with Svejk and think Keith would be better than Jultz, so if anybody else can chime in on this that'd be great.

It's best just to do it as soon as possible. I'll preemptively put his picks into the spreadsheet and if he somehow comes on today then he can make his own selections. Else he gets Kessel and Keith for sure.

Also Boomer the Cannon is up, he has until 10:58 AM EST. Followed by Aye Doc and T-Bone. Make sure to PM your picks (preferably to corn) if you know you won't be around tomorrow morning/afternoon so we can keep this thing rolling.

With the massive caveat of "when healthy" he is insanely good.

anyway Seguin/Forsberg/Letang seems like a pretty good core if they can all manage to get on the ice together for 70+ games
