Why is dragonstone completely deserted? Shouldn't someone still be kicking around there even if the baratheons are all wicked dead?

Why was Dragonstone empty? Why was no one occupying one of the great castles of Westeros?

^^^Stannis ditched it completely. I imagine anyone else who would occupy it was off fighting somewhere else. Good episode. Euron improved a lot. Good to see Arya meet some normal people for once.

Okay, but wouldn't that make it a great place for peasants when the rest of the world is going to poo poo? That's exactly the place I'd go be a squatter at.

Dragonstone can't supply itself. It sucks except it's a cool castle. That's why Stannis was pissed that Robert gave Renly Storm's End and stuck him on Dragonstone.

It's also why Cersei was insanely stupid when she refused to abandon the siege on Dragonstone when the Greyjoys were attacking the Shields, in a plot point that will not appear in the show.

has Howland Reed actually been namedropped in the show before? he's interesting because he's like by far the most significant character who hasn't actually shown up in the book series yet

But the Targaryens didn't have a second holding as wealthy as Storm's End. So Stannis being given Dragonstone was a backhanded gift that that was technically following the letter of tradition while completely going against the spirit of it. Ironically, the exact sort of thing Stannis would be completely all for if he was the one doing it.

I'm semi upset that the show might be implying that Cersei would be a semi-effectual ruler when in the books she was insanely bad at being queen

I'm just gonna presume, with that baby suddenly growing up and Euron suddenly having a fleet and all the time it probably took to get the Freys in one place at the same time, that there's been a small timeskip between these two seasons

I hope Howland Reed shows up in the show. What the gently caress is going on with him is one of the book mysteries I'm most interested in, and lord knows GRRM is never going to write any more loving books, so maybe the show can give an idea.
