You're missing the best part.

When Pagenaud signed his balls just to gently caress with him.

I think Kanaan, Helio and Montoya running part time would be the best solution mixed in with some IMSA. Though I don't quite know how that program would look.

TK would go to one of the Ganassi Ford GTs, but I don't know who would jump to another program from there.

That was from the Indy website, so I guess they decided to go with something silly but family friendly enough.

I have a nerdy question in regards to figuring out the history of various venues, series in American Open Wheel.

Would you guys consider Formula 5000 a fore runner to CART, IndyCar and thus helped create a lot of the road course racing fans in the sport? I ask because I'm unsure of what level they'd have been considered back then and in the current day.

Reason I ask this question is because it seems like those series seem to really lay the ground work for CART to later run Mid Ohio, Road America, and Laguna Seca, etc.

I would say yeah. CART was the successor to F5000 in a way.

Unrelated, I now work with a guy named Andre Ribiero.

IMO, when you look at the people involved, and the evolution of the cars and the schedule F5000 is just as much an ancestor of modern Indycar via CART as the USAC big car/gold crown series.

Yeah I've been trying to figure out where a lot of these weekends became things in american auto racing.

There's footage of F5000 running Mid Ohio in the 70s for example and it seems like a similar weekend to what we currently have on the calendar. But I don't think I can count say, The old US GP that used to run at the Glen as a part of :911: open wheel.

Can Am would be IMSA/CART in some ways I assume?

Respect the power of the wind
Verizon and Indycar will be negotiating soon about the future of series sponsorship.

https://www.bizjournals.com/newyork/news/2017/07/18/indycar-to-sit-down-with-title-sponsor-verizon.html

Based on that article I'd say it's a 40% chance Verizon stays on as title sponsor. If they don't, it's an 80% chance they'd stay as a major associate series sponsor and a 99% chance they'd stay involved with Penske.

unrelated ed- And a bit of backstory on Gateway.
