Causation or Correlation?

The difference between Obama and Clinton is that Obama has a posed portrait whereas Clinton's is candid. This means....something.

not really.

hillaryman michael tomasky in 2015 posted:

As I’ve written previously, they should announce, and soon, a series of dramatic steps they will take to change the way the foundation does business.8 On April 15, the foundation announced three changes, including that it will now accept foreign money only from Australia, Canada, Germany, the Netherlands, Norway, and the United Kingdom. The Clintons should go much farther, even to the point of downsizing the foundation’s operations, eliminating some programs.

And with respect to the speaking fees, while she stopped taking them once she became a candidate, it’s a little hard to understand why he can’t just stop for a while, or say he’ll no longer accept more than X amount, or do only ten a year, or something. They have amassed a fortune north of $125 million. The next several generations of Clintons could lead very expensive lives, and they would still be quite rich. But Bill seems defensive on this point. Recently, an NBC reporter asked him about the half-million-dollar fees, and he said: “I’ve got to pay our bills.”

They need to do better than this, and not just for political reasons, but because judgments about their integrity and future use of power are at stake. It’s one thing to be secretary of state. It’s another to be the president. A presidency can’t have questions like this swirling around it from day one. Imagine speculation that a White House decision with regard to Russia or Pakistan was influenced by a donation to the foundation from someone pursuing a business deal in one of those countries. Even if wholly unfounded, in today’s media environment, the mere speculation could alter outcomes. Bill Clinton could also be a tremendous asset to his wife’s administration as an envoy, but if the press is chasing “appearance of conflict” stories, it will be much harder for him to be effective.

The record so far suggests, though, that the Clintons won’t take dramatic steps. They’ll take just enough steps. It almost seems that they prefer living inside the maelstrom at this point. But it’s hard on a lot of other people.

source. sorry but they ran the foundation like irresponsible dipshits with no thought to political consequences.

there are still people on SA who will claim it was totally ok because it wasn't REALLY slavery and it's not like it was FIELD work and the state of Arkansas was doing this ANYWAY and she TOTALLY went "wtf" privately but went along with it reluctantly so as not to make waves and the prisoners were LUCKY to GET this work and also I bet you're white and rich

like, I don't even mean in D&D, I mean in C-SPAM

so I don't think it would have really changed anything

Uh excuse me but actually "the eye of a needle" was a local nickname for a specific city-wall gate in Jerusalem according to this passage right here *points vaguely in direction of random page of random book* and that gate was actually pretty big so Jesus was actually saying he loved rich people

yeah I agree, if that's what he was trying to say then he phrased it pretty weird, but, y'know, Jesus was a pretty weird guy

Washington Post 2014

quote:

On a trip to Moscow early in her tenure as secretary of state, Hillary Rodham Clinton played the role of international saleswoman, pressing Russian government officials to sign a multibillion-dollar deal to buy dozens of aircraft from Boeing.
...
Clinton did not point out that, to secure the donation, the State Department had set aside ethics guidelines that first prohibited solicitations of Boeing and then later permitted only a $1 million gift from the company. Boeing had been included on a list of firms to be avoided because of its frequent reliance on the government for help negotiating overseas business and concern that a donation could be seen as an attempt to curry favor with U.S. officials.

The November 2009 episode was an indicator of a mutually beneficial relationship between one of the world’s major corporations and a potential future president. Clinton functioned as a powerful ally for Boeing’s business interests at home and abroad, while Boeing has invested resources in causes beneficial to Clinton’s public and political image.

The Clinton foundation has saved the lives of thousands if not millions and the biggest pay for play scenario the right came up with was the Uranium One thing which was as transparently false as the Jane Sanders fraud investigation.

Meanwhile the DSA is bragging about averaging two signatures an hour in one of the most densely populated areas of the world.
