God drat it. I have five soldiers grouped up on overwatch, with only one stun lancer left behind a car. He runs out, and all five of my guys miss. The lancer runs up to my number one superhacker, and crit kills him in the face.

My other support just leveled up and randomly got holo-targetting though, which seems like a nice free pickup.

When I used Low Spec Gaming's graphic ini edits, the game just sort of made my ui overlay invisible. I can't see the game saves on load screen, I can't see the list of things to research nor can I see anything on the rewards screen after a mission. It's so weird before when I did this before nothing like this graphical fuckery ever happened.

EDIT: I figured out what was wrong. Apparently changing my DetailsMode value (located in xcomgame.ini and under [SYSTEM SETTINGS]) from 0 to 2 fixed the mishap.

I kinda like the ability to make my squads a hot mess. The late game having fewer armor style options is a shame, and I wish the allow any armor options mod had a way to limit randomly generated soldiers to standard sets (as-is it tends to randomly attach powered armor hydraulics onto civilian clothes.

Sure, having someone in the dirty slacks from the resistance warrior pack shrug off a plasma beam isn't realistic, but I'm already playing a game where someone in a smiley face patterned space suit hacks an alien death mech with a hot pink drone.

Thanks to the goon who suggested using the alternate launcher to fix the game speed by finding mod conflicts. I ended up needing to disable a few that I wasn't using, but everything is now buttery smooth (well except playing with uniforms but thank you cosmetic mods.)

Now I am seeing this sometimes at the end of missions (same campaign):

It just hangs there, escape works (so I can load a saved game) but otherwise no progress. I suspect it may be due to a bunch of mods being disabled, but could it be something else?

What are you gonna do, dance with me?

If I remember right, that one's actually specific to a bunch of mods being enabled as opposed to disabled - it's some kind of memory error that's been mitigated but never fixed up to this point. I remember people thinking it was gone for a while, but then a bunch of the bigger long war-esque overhauls and long war itself came out and it start cropping up again.

I think that may have been it - I went through my mod list and one I don't use (Music Modding System) was almost 1.5 GB :stare: Disabled that and everything seems to work fine.

I haven't played in ages, and I'm warming up for the XPANSION. Does the grappling hook work reliably now?

There used to be a bug where the hook broke and wasted your movement action, which was really not ideal when you were trying to make a dude survive.

Its still there, though it feels rarer.

Hopefully its fixed with the expansion since one of the new classes has a grappling hook as a permanent part of their kit :v:

It might still be around with the expansion then if it's that hard for them to fix.

I kind of like that the grappling hook has a chance to break. It could easily have been an intentional feature instead of a bug. Risk vs. reward etc.

I had this and it drove me mental because once it started, it almost always re-occurred and it typically occurred after a combat mission was finished. A couple of times I had to replay an entire combat mission to make it go away. I had Hack+, Accurate Swords, LW, Uniforms and a bunch of costume/armour customisation mods I can look up for you if you're still interested.

Is there a mod that makes the late game armour more customisable? In the original, I understood that the highest-tier armours would look high tech because you were a clandestine organisation with the backing of world governments, in 2, they should probably look a little less - "sleek"? A little less like an Apple product I guess. Same goes for plasma weapons.

Is it me or is Long War 2 a bit...well...poo poo?

I basically abandoned it after mission 2 because I was exasperated at how many enemies it was throwing at me, even at the easiest of difficulties. Given that the AI always had a one up on me in strategic advantage, I just found the entire thing frustrating and infuriating. Simple missions had suddenly been turned into huge affairs, being totally outnumbered and my squad likely being wiped or heavily injured.

Am I missing something, or is the mod team just from the git gud, anti social, anti fun wing of things?

It's possible you misunderstood the infiltration mechanic, which is what made you so ridiculously outnumbered in an early mission.

Which does not change the fact that the mod is from the "git gud" "anti-fun (for those who aren't into gruelling challenge anyway)" wing.

I kind of enjoyed the infiltration mechanic, it was the "long" part of LW that eventually got me to quit. I must have played for hours and hours and only barely got into lasers and the next tier of armour. If they could tone that down a la Dynamic War, I might have been more inclined to persist.

There's definitely a mod that allows the sleeves (and EXALT sleeves) to be chosen alone, for that armor-over-sweater look

It's both, really. Pavonis is actively hostile to transparency, and the main reason I know how a lot of things work in LW2 is because I've watched dozens of hours of one of the LW2 playtesters playing the mod.

But if you're facing more than 6-9 dudes in the early missions, you are doing infiltration wrong, and that's one of the few things the mod does actually bother to explain. Here's a better explanation though: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mn78E_7ZJes

There's a mod called "Warden gear" that adds a bunch of extra options themed around the last armor tier.
